Maybe a bit premature (oh matron) but with only 14 games left, I was wondering who we might look to keep and who we might look to release at the end of the season assuming we are safe. I've got no idea who's in or out of contract, so here's my list of players I'd like us to keep on:

Stone - young, steady enough and will learn off whoever we bring in as number one. Can't imagine he's on budget breaking wages so he's a useful option to keep around.

Cass - hasn't let us down much when he's been called upon and has his best years ahead of him, assume he is still in contract as he only signed this year.

Forrester - given a prolonged run, he will become our best defender, very good player.

Smith - really hope he signs on again, a vale legend.

Jones - has his detractors, but I'd 100% be keeping him on. We don't have a player who can distribute like him.

Woz - Mr 7/10. Despite his age no reason he should be released, one of our most consistent players this season.

Robinson - as with Cass, young, best years ahead of him etc.

Ojo - the best of our summer business, hopefully he signed 2 years and he's here for another year.

Garrity - he's getting better and better the more he plays at this level. A must keep.

Pett - I'd keep him, not necessarily a starter but a good option to have when we need to kill a game.

Tommy - got a 3 year deal so hopefully he gets a run in the team.

Harrison - hasn't scored in a long while but his aerial presence and general forward play have been brilliant. Hopefully he signed at least a 2 year deal in summer.

Willo - I'm in two minds here. On the one hand, when he plays and is on it, he's brilliant. On the other he's struggled with fitness. I get the feeling this could be a gibbo style negotiating, we want you but it's reduced due to fitness. Hopefully he sticks with us.

Plant - has done well on both his loan moves and for the youth team. Deserves a pro deal.

14 first team players, 13 if you don't include plant as he's unlikely to get a run out straight away. Would give us scope to bring in 7/8 players if we wanted too.

I went into this list thinking I was going to be ruthless and we'd have few players left, but I think there is something to be for continuity, especially if we encounter the same recruitment issues we have this year.

Interested to hear what everyone else would do, going to be a very interesting summer!

I’m inclined to think the same about Wilson but Jacko has done the stats on last season, forget the numbers but he started a lot more games than I thought. Not sure if we got more than 60 mins in many of those but the perception of his “made of glass” status is at least open to question.

Wilson has to go for me. How many has he started this season and how many times has he managed 90 minutes? This issue is he spends months out, then takes 3/4 games to get fully fit, then plays brilliant few a few weeks and then out again. Unless we can offer him pay as you play which he wouldn’t accept anyway I would let him go. Just too many issues revolving around out strikers being injured recently.

I'd keep Wilson. 100%. Purely because when he's fit and on it, he's unplayable at this level. Even if we only get 20 odd games a season out of him, that's potentially a lot of points. Not many players I'd say that about, but he's in a class of his own. Just my opinion.

Are those the players who are out of contract at the end of the season? Shame, as I would look to keep pretty well all of the above unless we have a guaranteed player the management knows is better and will remain injury free most likely. Of the above I would not keep Wilson, I think he is great when fit but he will be on a very high wage which could allow a quality striker to come in and play consistently, and I think it is time for Garrity to be release who has struggled this season. All the others mentioned I would look to keep, but there are others not mentioned I would release.

That's not what the post says at all no, they are the players I'd like us too keep.

Premature yes, but food for thought indeed. I’d imagine Willow isn’t skint so a pay as you play deal may benefit all. He’s undoubtedly one of the best in the league and 25 games could be 35 points?

I can’t see him accepting a pay as you play deal, someone else will take a gamble on him. He may accept something like a 1k a week deal, 3k a week if he plays and a handsome goal/assist bonus.

I guess Procters contract is coming to an end and if so maybe we can offer a contract as above allowing us to replace one of our sick note strikers with a decent more readily available striker.

Fair enough, pretty accurate then, although I still think Conlan if he can get his form back can add a lot to the team.

I think he's had enough games this season to show he's not at this level. As captain he must be on a fair wedge, if we need to make room in the budget to bring better players in, he'd be on my list to get rid of

Me too, think it will boil down to a question of wages. He's definitely a league one player, hopefully he stays and gets on the pitch some more next year. A striking line up of Harrison Wilson Taylor and another would be fantastic.

I'd disagree that it's form that's the issue with TC. From what I've seen, he's been found out ability wise at a higher level. He needs so much time to find a forward pass on his left foot and the oppo at this level don't give you that time and, also, they've quickly recognised that if you show him onto his right foot, he'll go back. If he had another foot, you'd probably be right, but I just can't see it. I also have an issue with his ability without the ball. He (and others) run towards the ball like headless chickens and have no anticipation skills at all, which leads to them being easily bypassed. You could see the difference Pett made in that regard yesterday. He doesn't always get it right, but more often than not he waits and moves towards where the ball will end up, rather than where it is, meaning we win the second ball.

I'd release 5 of the out of contract. Proctor release too he signed 1 year extension. Holden has to go and I think Derek might go too.

That's 8 .
