Summer transfer targets/rumours, retained list etc

Conlon
Massey
McCarron
Benning
Proctor (injuries)

If Stevens gets recalled add a GK to that list too

Add mipo, politic, holden and maybe Hall.

Hall has been awful so far this year but I really want him to turn it around as he was incredible last year. The other two wouldn't look out of place at Macc Town

Not sure myself on this but what would people say to recalling Covolan and give him one last chance? Truth be told on Stone I just don’t think he will ever be a L1 level keeper certainly not starting and unless we can keep hold of Stevens that might be the way to go?

Wondered that myself but, realistically, it's out of the question after three sendings off for us - and another one at Chesterfield. He is a competent goalkeeper but his temperament and loss of control just make him completely unreliable. Best left alone imho.

I wasn't happy with a season long loan for a GK. It's a really important position and will be disruptive finding a new keeper.

But on the plus side, hopefully we can sign a keeper that can actually make saves.

Should have signed Blackman when we had the chance. Better keeper and guaranteed to have him all season.

If we lose Stevens and can’t find a suitable replacement, may be difficult in Jan, then I think we have to recall him. Stone miles off, I think that’s why so many including my self were so anxious that we left it so late to sign a keeper, and one on loan at that

Not featuring for Chesterfield, don't know if he's injured, but for the last few weeks he's been missing not even on the bench,

If it’s true (and who really knows) then it was crazy to not let him sign a 1 year deal - If the 1 year / 2 year standoff was the only issue. Especially to then go with someone potentially only until January. I think Stevens will be staying though until summer.

Consolidation is our aim. 

Moving forward ( time goes too quickly) we need :

Keeper 

Dominant CH ( tall beast type )

Centre midfielder who can dominate games and grab it by scruff of neck .

Adequate cover/competition for Harrison and Wilson ( that's if Wilson doesn't leave after contract expiry ).

I said when he left Preston that i thought Bodin would be ideal for Vale having played for DC before,now imagine having Bodin and Taylor in our team,i would snap your hand off for that but as with the majority of those kind of players we cant/wont pay the wage for them.

Totally agree with our model of trying to produce our own or trying to polish a rough diamond BUT sometimes to progress to where we want to be we will have to break our strict wage structure.

I don't like fans thinking we're "doing things on the cheap".

We're being sensible.

If we'd signed a load of players on high wages, and then got relegated, we'd be saddled with an unsustainable wage bill and end up in deep financial trouble. Like where Notts Forest are heading.

If we stay in L1 then I'd imagine more of the better L1 players would be signed.

I dont say we have done things on the cheap,if you look at my posts i always state how we have money and are sensible with it,my post above is just as it stands right now,

What I do think is that we do need a mix of experienced and youth just like DC said and sometimes you will have to break a strict wage cap to move on. I agree with what you say about getting a lot of players in on high wages,i certainly wouldn't want that.
