Summer transfer targets/rumours, retained list etc

Shouldn’t have let out sub keeper go if we didn’t have on lined up and in place for the first game. Praise everyone as much as you like but that isn’t very good. I do think they wanted Blackman and Exeter beat us to his signature - makes me think Stone will be number 1 this season and I’m not sure based off last year if he will be good enough week in week out at this level. Fingers crossed we have someone join, but two days before the first game and we have 1 fit goalkeeper and 1 fit striker is poor planning IMO. Hopefully some join today / tomorrow but even then they probably won’t be ready for Saturday. 

The planning would have been to have a striker and goalkeeper, but we have missed out on targets which then have openly admitted.

What they aren’t prepared to do is panic and buy to fill a subs bench. In years previously we have done this , then you are stuck with a bad Apple who affects the dressing room.

I’d rather a squad that is slightly short but full of confidence and team spirit, than a few extra panic buys who make up the numbers and are disruptive.

It’s the opposite of poor planning . It’s having a clear strategy around type of player they want and sticking to it.

Totally agree to loan out Covolan, not get money for him, without a Replacement isn’t miss management it’s stupid.
Any other manager had done that they would have been really slated.
I think the current management are doing a great job but that is not their finest hour.

Perhaps that’s when chesterfield needed the keeper and that was our window to offload his wages

When we sign a keeper in the next week or two we will be glad he’s gone

If we hadn’t of got rid at that point we could have been stuck with him for another season.

Then Chesterfield may have to pay a transfer fee after a years loan, if the extension is true.

We gave Stone an extension to the option year we triggered if you’re mixing them two up? Be surprised if we had done that for Lucas.

I agree but I do think it’s poor planning RE the keeper situation. Should never get ready of the number 2 without a replacement signed

Thing is though, they do need to be good enough. It is that simple and we will get a keeper in. Read my post above. Stoke are our feeder club so expect more

I don’t believe he did ? He had one year left ? This will now be paid for by chesterfield, with an option to sign permanently at the end , or we let him go formally

Of course they do, I wouldn’t say Cov was that far off Stone? The reason that weren’t struggling to get a keeper in is the side he’s at waiting to sign a replacement / improvement. That’s something I think we should have done.

It was the same people (or their aliases) who were panicking after Christmas, who are doing the same now.
