Some of our targets are under contract , some will be loans

Some clubs gone down the free transfer route , signed more players
Derby have gone down the short term route. Virtually all their signings are over 30. Great if it works but if not you're stuck with a load of very well paid players on long contracts in the twilight of their career.

I'd much rather us take a long term view, have players that we can actually develop and ultimately be successful in the long run.

Does anyone know what kind of signings Cheltenham Cambridge and morecambe made when they went into league one? Did they get 3/4 league one players to help them stay up or did they go with what they had. I thought we would’ve signed a bit of quality if I’m honest and I know there is still time but it’s looking a bit unlikely now. I think it’ll be 3 young lads similar to harratt and Edmundson type players. Not sure that’s what we need if we are stay up and be competitive. It’s a tough old league with some decent mid table sides never mind the top 8. Have the official site mentioned anything about this zoom call with a potential keeper? Clarke and Flitcroft will of course know who they wanted to target but if the wages are not available then you have to go back and see who else you can pick up. That’s probably why the delay.

Cambridge signed 8. Morecambe signed 13. Cheltenham signed 4. Bolton signed 8.

Why would we have been interested in  Finn Azaz, according to the recruitment team we're now well stocked with attacking midfielders which is why Taylor was let go.

I not so concerned by the lack of signings at the moment but am more concerned that we've let two quality players leave, two young players the management team knew well and knew what they could do albeit in Lge 2.

I share your concerns but I guess we have to wait until the end of the transfer window to see if we've bought in better than we've let go. We might look back and think that we've replaced those left with better quality. Too early to judge at the moment and I suspect we won't really know until about Christmas.

I understand the frustration but I also understand that we need to sign the right players...not just signings for the sake of it.

I wonder what the the situation is with Tyreese Simpson at Ipswich? He was certainly a handful in his loan spell at Swindon last season. I don't think he played a game for Ipswich even after his recall from his loan spell. Would Ipswich be prepared to sell/loan him to a rival league1 team or is it only Vale that do that?

I really liked him,big strong and a unit with pace

I have seen someone mention 600k,they will get nowhere near that imo,I have read an article where he is training on his own now as he doesn't want to be there and has handed in a transfer request(he has 12mths left on his deal). Peterborough have enquired about him

I wish people would or could understand, that it's possible to 'trust the proces', but still ask questions, have doubts and be sceptical.

'The proces' is not the truths to end all truths or flawless. If it was, believe you me, none of the staff responsible, would be at Vale! They would be multimillionaires.

I just think it's a little bit sad, that anyone who questions or doubts 'the proces', either get shot down or simply told 'trust the proces'.

That wording 'trust the proces', is almost beginning to sound a bit like a cult mantra. If you question 'the proces', you are not a true supporter.

Totally agree. Nothing wrong with questioning the process but in my opinion it's too early to judge either way. Come back to this at Christmas and we can make an honest assessment of whether this preseason was justified or an absolute disaster.
