Supposed to be on a massive wage so we will have to see, seems to of lost his way a little bit over last couple of years but did well at Mansfield and Lincoln

Anyone got any idea on who the second one is he is hinting at?

Walker  overshadowed by Hirst on loan from Leicester.

UV hinting one rumoured player is Tyler Walker. Would be very on board with this if it were to be right, gives some much needed pace to this team.

See that he scored 2 for Coventry in a friendly win v Forest a few days ago, and "has been given a fresh start by the manager after a troubled campaign last season" - according to their local press.

They do say that he's likely to be 4th choice striker for them and will have a battle on to get ahead of the other three for selection.

You can't rewrite history but I think had Walker not got that injury we'd of stayed up.

I'd like him back if any truth in the rumours.

While we'll never know I think it is more than reasonable to say that. It was ridiculous given how awful that squad was that we came as close to survival as we did. I reckon Walker could have been worth a few extra points alone without injury. Likely only delayed the inevitable how the club was but I'd agree with you.

He strikes me as someone who could link up brilliantly with both Wilson and Proctor if can tap back into that potential he showed.

Forward line just needs legs or movement, Wilson and Proctor can do enough. Look at MF and TN in the past. Be nice if we get a 50 goal a season striker, but thats not going to happen 🙂. Man City top scorer KDB with 15.

We created our goals at the right time and I feel that we need a link man, ala "forgotten his name"  Bernie Slaven or the lad from Leicester "him too"

too much sun, tc and if someone remembers his name I will sleep well 🙂

How do you know if other clubs aren't making enquiries about our players, nobody really knows what's going on behind the scenes emoji848.png

As I said in my post VB I don't know but as in the Taylor case information gets out as there are two parties and more involved in a transfer deal, Port Vale and one other club (More sometimes) not to mention agents and not to mention journalists looking for stories etc.

Taylor and Gibbo both missed loads of games and ultimately left for League 1 teams. Neither themselves proven at that level. I think management have acted with objectivity.

Warren, you could say the same about a few, perhaps more than a few,  remaining members of the squad.

Yep. Same goes for Callum Guy.

Or selling Alnwick.

Or Grant.

Any of the 4 kept on/fit would have probably seen us safe.

Had we stayed safe, would Smurfwaite had dug in for longer? Looking back anything that kept him at the club longer was not something that I would have been happy about.

Not worried in the least bit. Time may be moving on but I'd rather we bring in the right players to fit the jigsaw as and when they are available.
It's no use bringing players in who either don't fit the plans or aren't buying into the project just so we can make up the numbers or appease armchair managers.
I'm sure plenty of irons are in the fire and even if we start the season with what we have now we will compete.
I'll be the first to admit I didn't warm to Darrell when he first joined but I quickly saw that my initial thoughts were wrong.
Him, along with the backroom staff are doing a sterling job, Port Vale are not a rich club and they will not pay silly money and jeopardise what we have already achieved.
What they will do is build a squad capable of challenging in this division, I have full confidence in that, give them time.
