Tranmere were just better than us in the 1st half.

 

Why oh why do Vale defenders yet again stand off a winger, give him time and space to decide what to do and allow him to come inside and get a shot on goal. School boy defending.

The difference here is that’s it’s easy for a team to nullify us. Make sure your wingers work hard to get in front of their own full backs to give us no space. That will take Clark and gibbons out of the game. Then make sure you win the balls intended for Popey, if not get men around him to pick up the second balls. That’s exactly what’s happening.

 

Our wing backs or centre halves get the ball and yet again they have no options, everyone’s ran away from them, all they can see is the backs of shirts. We need someone going to them to get the ball off them. There’s no way Clark or Gibbons are going to beat 2 men and there’s no way whitfield is going to win any of those long balls going his way either. This is where we need a different option now, maybe go 4 at the back?

 

Awful goal as well, Clark’s let the player run across him unchallenged for a shot, (similar to Cambridge), great save from brown, but Rawlinson is too busy appealing and is on his heels whilst the forward was alert.

After watching that 47 minutes I can honestly say that Askey should be sacked tonight. Absolutely atrocious! Howkins may not have played any football for 10 months, neither have I but I could have performed better than Clark or Rawlinson.

We might not score a goal under Askey before the summer. Not a great precursor to asking for the job full time.

Horrible performance so far. at least we created chances Saturday. This is been bloody garbage not that I’m surprised. Askey save yourself and bloody change it around at half time. Get miller and montano on for Kay and one of the defenders (probably Clark. Trash again) and actually have a go at them.

 

Oh and try to keep the ball down.

The formation etc is actually irrelevant. The passing is appalling and we just give possession away. Even with 6 strikers you can’t score if you keep giving the ball away.

Thank god Askey only has a contract until June. Better start a new manager thread because I think we will be needing another one come the summer.
