Monty Extends to 2020

Was our best player by miles after his switch to left back, I hope a summer learning the finer arts of defending will improve him further.

 

Aspo said he signed a 2 year deal, but there was a clause allowing to him break his contract after 1 year. A bit of loyalty from him and showing he values the work Aspo has done for him, which is nice.

So pleased with this. He was so good when he changed to left back. Was involved in the games far more and was allowed to show his skill. Worked hard too.

If someone said I would be delighted at this back in January I would have laughed them out of town but he’s been an absolute revelation at left back and looks a class player there. He deserves a lot of credit, as does Aspin for spotting it.

 

With him and Gibbons we have two really decent full backs for league 2. They are both very much the modern full backs too, always looking to get forward. Big dominant centre half in the Kyle Howkins/Tom Anderson mould alongside Smithy and we have a very decent league 2 back 4.

There seemed to be a massive change of attitude from Monty, after his positional change, so I'm glad to hear this - one less player to look for!

Excellent news and this is from someone who slated him before the switch,

 

He got on with the change without issue and was far more influential from coming behind the play rather trying to force it out wide.

 

Also nice to retain a valued/influential player hopefully shows the clubs intentions of support especially by getting it done quietly and early-well done all and in particular monty for his contribution,, now onto the missing pcs of the jigsaw
