Aspin Says Theres A Lot of Backstabbing At The Club

I will admit that Smurf's account of budgetary manipulation seemed a bit beyond his capabilities.

He couldn't stay off twitter around that time, and he expects us to believe that he sat quietly plotting against Page for £30k compensation from Northampton (or whatever minimal amount it would have been).

Not for me. He was trying to save face.

Well he clearly reduced the playing budget quite dramatically so that bit was true.

Seems a bit odd. Would you call players backstabbers? He inherited the vast majority so they were never "his" men in the first place. Plus they just want to get into the starting eleven, those that are left out won't like the manager but that's how it is. He brought the coaching staff with him, so they are "his" men. Brabin has today been linked with the Wrexham job and now Aspin happens to go on about backstabbing, coincidence? Maybe. He could be referring to other people behind the scenes, Fradley, Garlick, who knows? Clearly he has found that someone at the club has either been saying something to someone about him or looking to further their own careers at the expense of the club or Aspin.

Sometimes Wrex the juxtaposition of two events such as alluded by Neil speak volumes

I found the article quite disturbing really. Aspin strikes me as a very principled bloke who wears his heart on his sleeve. Maybe this was a cry for help, and you would expect that, at the very least, Garlick would sit down with him and talk to him about it.

I think it's vital that he does. Maybe this might have something to do with the Luton game, Gunning going against Aspos wishes and the awful dip in form of the team and certain individuals.

I see Aspo as being quite capable of walking away if he felt strongly enough about it and felt he wasn't getting the right support from the Club's hierarchy.

Be interesting to see if Pope has anything to say about it in his piece in the Sentnil this week.

Im glad someone is taking the blame!

Seriously though I know we are in a much worse position now but Page left me finding other things to do on a Saturday, killed my enthusiasm for away games and that season was the last time I had a ST. Would I swap positions now? Yes, in a heartbeat but lets not pretend people weren't unhappy with it at the time.

Some people...

So he’s *just* a liar and an idiot then.

In my opinion if Neil Aspin keeps us away from the big drop then he has been a success because if you look at some of the rubbish that he has had to work with then his achievement of keeping us in the league should never be under estimated.

Folk are saying on here that the owner isn't to blame but if I was in his shoes (heaven forbid) I would be talking to Neil and find out who is behind the 'back stabbing' problem and root the guilty one(s)out of the club.

For my money Neil Aspin is worth our full support.

Neil Aspin epitomises the vale fans to me honest down to earth people who want a good hard working set of people around them. When Foley did one of the worst tackles in football history on him he did not roll round on the vale turf he tried to get up and played on for a few minutes. If some of the players that he has been left with saw that video they would realise what a genuine manager and footballer they have in charge of them.Whoever is backstabbing him should be rooted out of the club and that can only be done by the man at the top so get a grip smurf and do something good for our club for once before we lose this genuine man for good in aspin we trust.

That was my take on it. Don't forget greedy and gullible too, as he saw Page as an opportunity to cut costs and then saw his departure as the chance to start a get rich quick scheme with the help of a friendly foreign agent
