Brexit again...

We have to make a deal with the EU, there is no choice except to stay as we are. All we are doing at present is trying to make a withdrawal agreement, with a two year or more period to make a deal. The EU may give us more time if we wish to have an election or referendum, but may not be keen to give us more time to dither.

We can leave on our on terms.

That is the only option available now.

Anything else is either delaying that decision or an attempt to reverse the brexit vote.

Firstly, it wasn't strictly an instruction. The question was conditional - should the UK remain or leave? Response, it should leave.

The question was straightforward and the outcome was to determine as such. David Cameron, whom was prime minister at the time told us they would implement what the people decide. That therefore makes the referendum interpretation unquestionable. Scramble around for little split hairs that fact won't change

So, the next question should really be - ok, great - how? To this, there has been no satisfactory answer.

There was no 2nd question on the ballet paper and no intention to run a referendum on a second question nor was a second question part of the ballot paper actual question...so you are wrong.

Secondly, that is definitively not Labour's problem. Labour's problem is that it is hopelessly politically divided in much the same way that the Tories are. This is a direct reflection of the surge of the left of the party in response to austerity. Within the left/central axes, there are both leave and remain positions, to varying degrees. The problem you describe is very specifically that the Labour leader and his close advisers want to leave the EU, but now probably recognise that it will cause (and is already causing) irreparable damage to their electoral base. There are more Labour remainder members than Leavers. There are almost certainly more Labour remainers than Leavers.

Labours problems are that they hate the working class and showed contempt in the Bliar years when they opened the floodgates to all and sundry and kept wages low for over a decade. Their party is full of champagne socialists who laugh at white van men. Ruth Smeeth is another parachuted in MP whom cares nothing for Stoke on Trent just her own political career. She would have loved to fill this area to the brim with EU migrants and keep the working classes down in the ground

Very good post. You have hit the nail on the head HOW should we leave, I keep making the point to the Leave Dinosaurs on here is that the majority of voters do not want to leave without a deal. The method of leaving has never been established.

Where's your evidence that a majority of 17.5 million people wanted a 'deal'? One foot in and one foot out is not leaving and that is not what 17.5 million voted for.

Keep looking for different angles but that fact will not change. You lost get over it

Where is your evidence That a majority voted to leave only with a No deal. Nobody knows that is why there will probably be a referendum

"Deal" is used by undemocratic and pisspoor MPs and journalists to mean remain.

As long as there is no function of the EU which has sovereignty over the UK then we've left. If that statement is not true then we have not left.

If we can make a deal that is compatible with that statement, great. Any deal which is not compatible is off the table as we've already voted against it.

I find it kind of amusing that expats are so despised. Like they are all pensioners living it up on the Costa de la Sal.

We've lived in NL for 30 years, paying our tax, minding our own business. Brought up two kids here, speak the lingo, own our own gaffe.

Now we are getting a **** load of letters from the government here. We've all had to take a trip to the alien police, and still our situation is unclear. And we never even got a vote.

Sure it works the other way around for EU people in the UK, but is this not any way to treat people just going about their law abiding business?

On our street in down town Gouda we are the second longest living there. We are well known good members of the community. Now, suddenly, through matters beyond our control, we are aliens, this is not a nice feeling.
