Worst pitch in league football and the National league

There are a number of clubs in the lower divisions which have trouble with their pitches. Accrington's is a problem for starters. But the cost of putting in proper well drained pitches like we see in the Premier League is prohibitive. The answer lies with the FA who, in my humble opinion, should redirect a million quid a season from the £100 million given to each Premier team into a fund. Lower league clubs could then apply to the trustees of the fund for a grant to carry out necessary improvements at lower league grounds. They could start with our pitch and the toilets at Accrington!

Grants and football chairmen don’t mix. Or rather they do mix only to well. Such funds have been known to mix with their own funds and then along came Mark Aizelwood. Ah well, nice idea but.....

The pitch is beyond a joke. Yes the pitch was worse back in 1970 or 80 odd but other clubs had pitches much worse.

Today, there are few other clubs with worse. In fact I’ve not seen a single club this season with worse than Saturday.

That means mentally playing at home will always damage confidence as it means for half of the season they will be playing on a better surface and they get to Vale Park and they know it will be poor.

Smurf should open his wallet for a new pitch. It is a basic requirement for him to keep the club running reasonably. He should be reported to the FA.

Everything is his fault with you isn't it. No words directed to the man who is supposed to look after the pitch? I see Burslem golf club is looking a lot better condition than VP. Maybe we should get one of their greenkeepers in instead of Speedy?

Why don't you go and have a word with Speedy and ask him about his problems with our current pitch?

The pitch. Maybe bad this time of year, but as been better since drainage was improved a couple of years ago, it's probably due another Sand Injection which seams to work for a bit, easy to point fingers.

There used to be the Football Trust. It gave grants to help clubs implement ground improvements around the time of the Taylor Report. They probably should have carried on with it.
