The Stoke City Topic Thread: Relegation? Staying up? Manager? Empty seats

Its nice they still care enough about us to discuss us at that length.

Be interesting to see how long the Premier League generation stick around; I imagine they'll be all whipped up at the start of the season, backing the team for a promotion push with sell out crowds, but by Mid November it'll be back to the standard 15,000 as they limp to a 2-1 defeat to Barnsley. Can't wait.

Lol summer up my thoughts perfectly.

Bad for the local economy...pretty tenuous, but good for local football. I try and get to Congleton Town matches when Vale are away, but instead of giving £6 (plus a couple of beers) of money to their local team, some of my mates would rather sit in and stream the Deckchairs' 3pm kick off instead.

Can't be doing that when they're in the Championship. The odd 12:30 game on Sky before a more interesting match and that's it. If they want football it's Congleton Town or nothing

I saw that the Bloatcake will stop being published as the editor said he wanted to focus on the glory years. One too many letter S in years, mate.

I don’t know whether The Oatcake editor is still that tub of lard Martin Smith, but he was once pictured in the Sentinel in a Vale shirt !

I went to one of Congleton's away games a few weeks ago, there's a North West Counties team near where I live. It's nothing special but its a good laugh. Probably got more entertainment out of WD&C this season than I have at Vale.

As for a local economy angle, they turn over > £100 million a year and most of that gets taken back out in wheelbarrows to the posh houses in Wychwood Park and Alderley Edge. Maybe the dog groomers and the 4x4 dealers in Cheshire might start feeling the pinch.

When they're relegated, in the event of a fixture clash, we won't automatically have to move our matches because of that shitty premiership agreement.

Instead, we'll just have to move them because the completely fair and not at all fixed coin toss dictates so.

You wonder if that’s why we’ve been allowed to play the last 3 games which have clashed on the same day so they won’t have to succumb to us and have to switch their games in future. Perhaps they plan ahead unlike Norm.

Probably not so with their double sided coin trick but it makes you think that after about 30 years of both not being allowed to play at home on the same day and then a sudden change.

Stoke are going down. But the fans I talk to aren’t arsed.

Premiership is boring/expensive/overrated.

Better days out in Notts,Sheffield,Derby.

N40 mongs will be back with a vengeance.

Championship is a great league.

At least we’ve been there. You lot never will.

Hughes’ fault.

Coates’s fault.

Don’t go anymore.

At least the A500 won’t be blocked anymore.

Chance for a clear out.

Well very shortly the Radio Stoke claimed “Bear Pit “ will soon be half empty as they look forward to home games against Reading,Norwich,Ipswich,Barnsley,Preston Both Ends,Wigan,Blackburn,Fulham and Brentford.Enjoy x
