The Stoke City Topic Thread: Relegation? Staying up? Manager? Empty seats

Sentinel reporting that Lambert and, more surprisingly, Cartwright, to remain for next season.

Their recruiting has been woeful.

Imbulla, Berahino, Wimmer - all expensive flops. I'd struggle to name a team who has had a worse record in terms of transfers.

Keeping a manager with 1 win in his 12 games (and whose previous Championship campaigns have ended in 15th) is bad enough, but keeping a bloke who thought £15m and 70k a week were good deals for Berahino smacks of incompetence. Its delightful to see them bottle it.

Stoke please keep Paul Lambert he has good experience of failing in the championship with Blackburn then Wolves.

Most of the decent players like Butland and Allen will jump ship pushing them further down the league.

Wonder how many have relegation release clauses?

Rivalry apart, has there been a worse time to be a Stoke fan in recent years? Their own players (who'd probably never heard of Stoke before they came) taking the pxss in the media (Pieters, Shaqiri) or just take the pxss (Berahinogoals), all while they live in Holmes Chapel or similar and clearly couldn't give a toss about the club or the fans.

Then you see the way their fixtures are shafted for TV purposes...1.30 on a Sunday (yesterday), and their next 2 games are 12.30 Saturday kickoffs.

I'd imagine their few sensible fans might just be relishing some respite from losing games and being at the beck and call of TV, while 10,000 "fans" may suddenly find other things to do on a Saturday/Sunday/Monday evening/international break weekend.

3 games left and id say they need 7 points as there goal difference is horrific so thats -1point although Huddersfield is only 6 better .

Its down to the footballing gods and whether over 38 games they are better than bottom 3 .

Swansea to be fair probably deserve go down so them and one other Southampton or Stoke .

It at the end of it is who deserves to

If Smurthwaite had any footballing nous he would be giving the budget for next season all that he could because the demise of Sjoke is Vale's chance to win back a few of the 'floaters' especially if we are flying next term and they start poorly and look as if they are going nowhere. This is our Golden opportunity and it must be grasped with both hands.

If Smurthwaite had any footballing nous

Footballing nous:laugh:

This is the bloke who called Burton Albion "Burton on Trent".

This is the bloke who allocated £0.00 as the budget for promoting ticket sales.

This is the bloke who allowed the latest ticket "offer" flop to unfold so predictably.

This is the bloke who lets the Ticket Office carry on so shambolically.

This is the bloke who thinks perimeter advertising is a waste of time.

This, unfortunately is our owner for the foreseeable future.

He's absolutely without a clue.
