A very enjoyable afternoon. Opposition aside there were a few good performances today.

 

Montano stands out, Tonge played well, Barnett looked a handful before his injury, Green looked handy and Pyke looked sharp. Also thought walker was good and Gunning played well at the back with good distribution.

 

Overall I was pleased with the level of volume from the pitch, lots of players giving it vocals and organising.

 

Browny's bulldogs certainly made it more entertaining this year than Bruno's ballerinas did last year.

Vale won 4-3 at Congleton Town. Dan Turner got one and Ryan Boot got an own goal right at the start I think. Didn't do too badly for a youth team vs big angry non-league players though.

Great to hear.

I do think it's a clean slate for Brown. He will want to impose his style and influence fully over the summer. He strikes me as a Micky Adams style of manager. No nonsense who will demand performances or consequences will happen.

I really hope he gets the success his qualities as a player and a man deserve.

Ah sorry, WE didn't anger them. It's just my impression when I've seen football at that level - they're all a bunch of big, physical units, whereas our lads this afternoon were not.
