Signings - Part 2

Some of the view points on here crack me up when it comes to signings

Joe Davis- since leaving vale in 2014 he has made just 29 league football appearances, only managed 14 last year

Lainton- whilst looks ok has a horrendous injury record, 49 apps since 2013

Pope- decent signing

Montano- winger that his goals ratio is absolutely horrendous (17 goals since 2010) not sure on assists but lets hope its around 1 every other game or he brings nothing to the team other than a body.

Some big gambles just like January from Brown, if they don't pay off like they didnt then, hes in trouble big time. I said it then and ill say the same now, Brown has to take some blame for relegation following poor signings in Jan and gambling on players he brought in with poor fitness and injury records. If the like of Davis dont and Montano dont make the grade and Lainton gets injured (as usual) you are left scraping for loan signings and budget gets wasted again with no supply to the forward line as it stands. Lob into the mix adam yates injury record is suspect over the last 2-3 years and the fact we don't have a midfield other than Pugh id say signing both Bikie and Davis is perhaps budget that should be ploughed into the midfield area. Smurf and Bruno gamble on foreign players...idiots and damaging to the club....brown gambles on british based players and he knows what hes doing.... really?

That is exactly how league 2 works. I'm failing to see who people expect us to sign.

It's the same for every club in our position when it comes to recruitment.

Welcome back Joe.

If we go and sign another center half who is brutish, experienced and a leader (Like Bikey for example)... then I'm ok with this signing.

If not, and we expect Davis to be first choice partner with Smith, then I'm a little concerned.

Welcome back Joe Davis. Looked promising last time so hopefully the last two years have seen him grow as a person and a player.

I'd be very tempted to get his brother Harry too, as he's still young and has a lot of experience at this level and the league above. Him, plus the signing of a seasoned pro (hopefully Bikey) would sort out the centre half position no question.

My point is people didn't accept that gambles cost us last year but are happy with it this year

Last year's gambles were demented.

Anyway Davis, Lainton, Montaño, Pope... these calibre of players won't guarantee you promotion but good enough to be competitive in League Two? I'd say so.

He'll be older, stronger and wiser now so might turn out to be a very good signing.

And it's nice to see two defenders from the academy in the first team squad.

I'm crossing my fingers that we can sign a few lads who know where the net is because that remains my biggest worry - and was never addressed last season.
