We are not going to get a billionnaire to buy Vale. We have a man who is reportedly a multi-millionnaire in charge who promised us the earth and look what's happened. Orient have a man who is a multi-millionnaire who promised the earth and look what's happened. Money is only part of the answer. Common sense, business acumen and integrity are equally as important.

I agree totally......my main point was that like any fan(well i would of thought) we pay our money to see a successful winning team not one that will just stay mid table League One or Two for the rest of our lives, otherwise whats the point....well thats what i want to see anyway

You said in an earlier post that the club needed drive and ambition. Well I suspect the Business of the Year Award winners who have built up their company from its small local beginnings to a large organisation with clients on many continents around the world may just have a bit of that.

I will be honest Jean,my hope is that they dont intend on going it alone and that they have a couple of business contacts maybe abroad who want to come in and invest with them

[quote Smurf staying ? -----

Well if he is, he would do well to do 5 or 6 things INSTANTLY

1. Announce lower ST prices to reflect L2 football - HALF the current price would be good.

2. Sort out manager situation by mid-May, and whoever is manager give them a decent budget and LET THEM MANAGE.

3. Put people in place, or let those there already, run the club as a CEO should, and all announcements and news and general info to come from them not the owner.

4. Do your utmost to keep Smith, Streete, Foley and a couple of other better players here, but if they have to go/want to go ensure they are replaced with decent players, not make-do has-beens or chancers.

5. Withdraw from public contact, no Twitter, no Facebook and no OVF account whether Penny Black or Martino or whatever. Let the dust settle and just be a good owner instead of a disasterous mock-CEO/semi-manager.

6. Mend bridges with those who can help Vale, the Sentinel, Radio Stoke, other managers and journalists and not least the fans even if it means leaving them to let their emotional wounds recover - they are deep and need time to heal.

If you were to announce you agreed to the above, and then let it slowly unfold so everyone could see it is true, then there just might be a way you and all of us could enjoy our great Port Vale again.

Any other strategy is just going to mean even more hurt, pain, anger, distrust and disaster if you stay and decide to run a half-hearted club that slips to the bottom of L2 with gates under 3,000 if you are lucky.

What is Burtons fanbase?

Not sure what their fanbase is but so far with one home game to play they are averaging gates of 5,181 compared to our final average of 4,813.

Since we inflicted their biggest ever league defeat on them a few years ago they have really progressed and fully deserve at least another season in the Championship. They are a credit to their town and fans.

Also a town which traditionally watches football in Derby, a magnificent achievement.

There appear so many "Anonymous" wide boys trying to wriggle their backsides into places of power and influence in football these days that it would be a breath of fresh air that the Vale be sold to local people who care about the club and the area.

It just needs Smurf to swallow his pride and sell club and ground for around what he paid, he could yet leave PVFC with at least some kudos.

Er, Tesla is now worth more than Ford and General Motors and is now the most valuable carmaker in the US.

Norman's judgement on cars looks good to me - I just wish you could say the same for his football judgement

I'd take a Bentley any day.

You're in la la land mate.

He doesn't care about you or the football club one iota. All he cares about is profit. Nice new Tesla, Norman.

He proves time and time again that he is a complete incompetent in general, never mind football club owner.

His greed and pig ignorance relegated us when Moussallati and the Norwegians proposed absolute B0LL0CKS in millions of profit on signing European youth players. Gorm went for it hook line and sinker. We are now relegated back to division 4 for god knows how long. He alienates everyone around him. He takes the **** out of customers by posting on here as Penny Black and on Torquay's forum as Mushroom, go and have a look what he was posting on there.

He doesn't understand football at all and never will. People who don't understand football should not own football clubs.

I wouldn't trust him to run a bath without starting a ******* fire instead.

Exactly. People like Norman Smurthwaite only do things to benefit themselves, no one else.

The club is being bled dry by Norman. He's wringing it for everything he can get his fst, grubby little fingers on.

I'm sure his previous business dealings make for an interesting story.

Isn't that what businessmen usually do?

Running a football club though is completely different to running a successful IT business. How would they be able to convert their knowledge and success in IT into the sports market?

We've seen it before in industry. Companies trying to move into a new market and failing miserably because they don't properly understand it. I've seen companies throw money at takeovers until something sticks. Just because Synetics have been hugely successful in one domain (and there is no doubt that they have) doesn't mean they can go into any market and be a success.

I'm guessing Smurf was a successful businessman to have the money he has, and look at the mess he's made at Vale. That was as a cash buyout. If, as Smurf has claimed, Synetics need to borrow cash to buy the club, that sets alarm bells ringing for me.

People will no doubt claim that I'm pro-Smurf or other such stupid attacks just because I've aired my doubts. But frankly I'm fed up of people coming in and promising us a brighter future then leading us from one **** up to another.

They deal with high profile name customers daily in their very successful business. they employ 300 plus staff. they are involved in raising the profile of Burslem and it's people, they are Vale fans who have witnessed first hand how not to run a football club, they have the clout to borrow money to expand their business and they may have personal wealth we know nothing about. Just one of these facets would be an improvement over what Norman Smurthwaite offers, the bloke has very nearly ruined us.
