Do we sign ryan taylor ?

Ryan Taylor could be a asset if we played two up front .

The system we currently play makes him look naff although sat he along with 9 others were naff .

Vale need a very very good winger i think and a box to box midfielder and a new striker and a left winger.

Ive seen summat in him but performances like the one on sat where he wasnt involved r not acceptable .

The midfield is the problem even Tavares gets more involved than Grant .

As anyone found him yet he went missing at 15.00 sat afternoon along with 9 others .

I believe they were found at 16.55 with the clothes they were wearing as clean as what they were when they kicked off .

I think hes done ok. But I think we've got other areas of the pitch that need addressing first. It'll be interesting to see if Brown gives a chance to young Gibbons there, but I have a feeling that he'll stick with the experience of either Taylor or Purkiss if the season turns into a relegation battle.

Wouldn't be too fussed if he left. He's been poor when played at right back in his so called preferred position and he hasn't got the pace we need for the wing. His corners and free kicks have been appalling. However he has some experience so if grant goes who has been sulking for weeks then we could use taylor in that position.

I think one of the problems we've had all season is that the balance of the team isn't right. Grant and Taylor are arguably both defensive minded players and neither get forward much. Grant sometimes is given licence to play further forward in the second half of games but neither he nor Taylor are remotely a goal threat (dead balls expected). De Freitas isn't the answer either. We very badly miss Foley (and Dodds) in midfield as both had the energy and eye for a goal that we badly lack at the minute.

 

Who knows if Grant will stay or go this month. If so then Taylor might be as good a short term replacement as we can get, but I'm not convinced we've got the balance right at all in midfield. We need a fast right winger and a creative central player.

Vale must keep him 'til the end of the season, the squad is so threadbare with anyone with a hint of quality and experience.

We need to keep him. He is a proven top flight performer and he seems to be getting back to match sharpness after a very long time out.

 

He was forming a good partnership with Streete and the last thing we need is another first team player released because the back ups are miles worse

 

Things may be bad now, but getting rid of players after a season after we got rid of a whole squad will only make things worse

I was really pleased when he signed as I remember him as a decent Premiership player with Newcastle but, have to say, he has contributed next to nothing. Shocking in the full back role and not enough stamina (or perhaps its effort) to play wide or centre mid.

 

As someone else commented, our form with him in the team has been shockingly bad.

Personally I'm in the 'sign him' camp. I don't think he's been as poor as some people think he has and I also think he'll get better as his match fitness improves. He offers versatility and experience at the top level and, like most players, would be better with better players around him. If we're having a rebuild then he's a good foundation block.
