Smith & Streete have done really well for us and been one of the highlights of the season to date for me. We tend to forget how young they are.

They are our best investment opportunities for years and "little" Port Vale should adopt the Crewe module on their transfer policy and "big up" the product. Streete and Smith are developing a great partnership and for me are the highlight of the season so far. If the club has any genuine ambition we should be looking to build on this, not sell them to the first bidder for relative peanuts. They're both young and proving themselves and will command much better fees in the future, although I'd love them to be our first choice centre halves in the Championship (I know, dream on).

I think that would be a great deal for Vale, assuming of course that a good proportion of the money is made available for squad strengthening.

£1.5 Mill for Smith seems a bit on the low side compared to bids for other players going to the prem so I would hope he goes for quite a bit more than that and like someone has said if 4 clubs are interested then lets sell to the highest bidder!!

I would also hope between now and then we are lining up suitable replacements like Rudgie used to do and not going for another cheap option but a commanding good footballer who has done it in the Prem or Championship!!
