Though I would love to fantasise on future signings like you guys but to be honest with the budget that NS is looking like offering to the manager whoever he may be is just that fantasy. Sorry folks but £1.9 or less isn't going to get much quality.

Yep. Walsall have done awful the past couple of seasons on a shoe-string budget.

 

The key is to get out of the cycle of giving hefty contracts to journeymen players with little scope for improvement (Tomlin, Mohammed etc) and instead sign young, hungry, developing talents on half the wage (the likes of Billy Knott).

 

You never know, we might end up selling someone on for a fee employing this approach.

The security of a longer deal may offset not being able to pay a huge salary. More importantly it would protect the club's interests if he carries on developing and another team comes in for him.

Both of the others have good careers if they keep up the good progress. For me Hugill is already the 2nd best forward at the club well in front of either Tomlin or Williamson.

Whatever happens next season, we will have a competitive squad. We'll win some games & lose some too. Pope will score goals and we'll have a few players who divide opinion. It happens every year.
