Quite like the look of Smallwood, midfielder currently on loan at Rotherham from Middlesboro (I think). Seems a regular in the Rotherham team but don't know whether he is destined for them next year. Also I didn't see the game against Tranmere recently, but what was Arthurnorry like? He is on loan to them from Fulham, a very big CH.

Anyone think Ryan Lowe would be a good signing? Yes he may be getting on a bit but he has scored 15 plus goals in a poor Tranmere side and he is a good goal poacher who would link up well with pope. He is also proven at this level and would be much of a gamble, players like Hugil and Williamson can learn off him like they did with Hughes that is of course if both of them stay

Yeah we tried sign him for this season and failed. Would be a great addition, getting on but will score 15+ without fail.

I've been impressed by Rochdale's Scott Hogan (17 goals, 29 games this season) but I'm not sure we'd have the financial muscle to get him.

Shuker's going anyway as he's retiring.

 

I'd keep Griff and get rid of Wiliamson and Lines (if we can get Billy Knott to sign).

 

Ben Williamson can't live on "potential" any more than Dodds can on being an occasionally-influential substitute for ever.

 

I'm convinced we can get better players and we should concentrate on quality not quantity.

I'd agree with all of those except I would get rid of Williamson instead of Tomlin.

 

I'd be looking at Gleeson and Kay from MK Dons who haven't been offered new contracts and maybe Martin Paterson from Huddersfield in addition to Knott, Cuvelier, Grimmer (for right back) and a couple of mobile centre halves to compliment Duffy.

It depends on the budget and not necessarily on who we'd like in an ideal world.

I don't disagree with most comments above but we might not be able to do better on the money we've got.

 

You have to be realistic about these things.

 

I'd say our priorities would be a full back, two centre halves and two midfield players, but five new players is perhaps as many as we'll get, if that.

 

It's mainly in defence that we need to be a lot stronger. You can't build Rome in a day, but steadily improving year on year is the sensible way to proceed.

I think that if Adams is the manager then he will certainly offer deals to a fair few of the current squad BUT I also think he will now be wise who can cut it at this level,so I think he will release Dodds,Taylor,Shuker and 2 or 3 more.

Having watched him the other night I wouldn't mind Lee Gregory from Halifax but I think he's under contract so we can forget that one! We should start with a decent mobile centre half who is 6ft 2 or bigger.

 

Gregory is up for a move and he's attracted interest from Cardiff,Blackburn and Notts County.He wants to be a full time professional instead of a sparky and a part-time player with Halifax.
