After all the doom and gloom surrounding Adams and vale at the minute I thought I'd start a thread to see what affordable and realistic new players would you like to see at vale in the summer! Maybe a few from lower league teams in the midlands???

Jean, you'd get on perfectly with my dad.

 

For two years, he's answered the same thing when I ask him how he thinks Vale should improve.

 

His answer - "they need a decent centre-half who's strong and mobile."

 

When I ask about other areas of the side, he's adamant - the team need to build from the back and "sort the central defence out first..."

As I said a week ago , a complete new back four and a defensive midfielder with composure, the rest of the team will do.

Firstly sign Billy Knott, an absolute must for me.

 

I agree with a good centre half, but I'd combine this with and experienced captain. A leader on the field who has the ability organise and command the team on the pitch. We have to stop giving very soft goals away.

 

I'd also like to see another winger on the opposite wing to JMW to balance the midfield and hopefully to give him the room to be more effective.

Do what stoke did start with two very good centre halves

I would certainly be looking to spend biggest on the centre backs.

 

A left back to replace dicko

A right back to replace Yates

2 centre backs to replace Robertson and Chilvers

2 centre mids to replace Birchall and Griff - One hopefully being Knott.

1/2 wingers, need balancing out and JMW needs competition.

1 Striker, just in case Williamson goes of the boil again.

JMW Lines New CDM Loft

 

Pope New ST.

 

Bench: Johnson, Robertson, Jones, New CM (Knott or Cuvelier would do), New LM/RM, Williamson, Hugill.

 

I'd keep Birchall, Davis and Taylor as well but possibly loan them out. Either way, we are always going to get injuries so they will be involved a lot.

 

Therefore, i'd be getting rid of Yates, Chilvers, Dodds, Tomlin, Shuker, Griff and Mohamed IF POSSIBLE.

 

If this was to happen, i'd certainly be confident of finishing in at least 8th like Norman wants. However, with the proposed budget cuts, it will be an extremely interesting summer...
