Simple: two rules No new players over 23. No players on the way down. There are plenty of good, young players available who would jump at the chance of playing League football but we need a manager who will go out and look for them and then play them.

I can see your point but, sorry, why would you hamstring yourself? Unfortunately not many quality players these days do come down the leagues toward the end of their careers but any that do can sometimes be excellent signings. What about when Jimmy Greenhoff came to Vale? Well past his best but a great signing for us at the time.

Also, Tom Pope was over 23 when we signed him, or don't you think we should have?

For me if a player is going to improve the team / squad and is available for the right money we should get them on board.

Come on REP Knott apart the others wouldn't have been selected if the squad hadn't been so threadbare. Both of the others have good careers if they keep up the good progress. For me Hugill is already the 2nd best forward at the club well in front of either Tomlin or Williamson.

The bottom line is he has put them in his squad and trusted them and like many other young players given them their debuts. He's always said if players are good enough they will play, if he didn't rate Johnson he wouldn't run the risk of him being sub keeper. If he didn't rate Hughill he wouldn't have signed him, the bottom line with him is that he needs to sort his stamina out.

Morsy was given his debut by Micky and then had a prolonged run in the side last season until his discipline cost him and us, Grimmer was a great signing etc.

Do you mean Sam Morsy who looks good to win chesterfield's player of the year award.

Give the lad a chance,he's only twenty years old.

He may be a late starter?

FUA - I think you may be missing my point. I have nothing against Ryan Lloyd at all. He has done ok in the main on the few occasions I have seen him play, though possibly a little lightweight for lower league football.

My point is it is wrong to suggest Adams is suddenly in favour of young players because he has picked Lloyd when there is, almost literally, nobody else fit in the squad.
