  1. Honestly can people just lay off loft doing my head in now . The lads giving his all just get behind him.

  2. The problem is that the manager at that time had accumulated 96 points with a quality outfit. We have a dog <ovf censored> squad. Full of kids or utter guff. None who are good enough, apart from the odd 2 or 3. We have just accumulated 2 points from our last 8 games and 12 points from our last 15. Dont have a go for mocking your post. They are using their head and have their eyes wide open. We can’t defend. We don’t make the opposition keeper make a save, never mind score! We’ve still got to go to Peterborough and Derby and you’re knocking the fans for disagreeing with you? Good lord. Youre living in cuckoo land on blind faith. The majority of us can see it for what it is. Don’t start crying for Flitcroft to go at the end of the season when we’re down. Blind faith. And “getting behind the lads” ain’t gonna wash and it certainly isn’t gonna save us. We are garbage and the owner has screwed it up with her blind faith in a DOF whose position has been untenable for almost a year.

  3. Sadly little point in criticising any more. Carol has nailed her colours to the mast of her choice. Sadly it flies against what most Vale fans are seeing on and off the pitch. Vale fans are not fickle, they are hard-working, honest and true to themselves. Nothing like the product being offered to them on the pitch. The little we've seen so far proves that the issue was never the manager. It's higher up than that, but no one there will acknowledge it.

  4. The cheap option in hiring AC instead of conducting any external interviews was the start of the penny wise pound foolish domino chain. The club are pouring money into vanity projects like having the players change in a different set of changing rooms on matchdays to make it 'special'. A new office overlooking the training pitches. Meanwhile on the pitch, you know the bit that actually matters for a football club, we've won 3 in 27, over 5 months worth of games. I won't be surprised if we hit 6 months without winning a 4th. It must be some kind of global football record, other than San Marino. We went the whole summer being the only club in the entire league, it may even be the entire EFL if I remember right, with one fit striker on the books, before Thomas came in 2 days before the 0-7 masterclass at Barnsley. The owner has an opportunity to address the fans valid concerns through the 1800 word open letter she wrote. She ignores each and every one of them, I would imagine because they're inconvenient to acknowledge, never mind explain. The 1800 word open letter is instead a party political broadcast for how great Flitters is. She meant well in a difficult position but she only made things worse by ignoring reality. There is an unpleasant and ever widening gap between the administration and the fans. This circus will get relegated. We will lose many off the ST and walk up figures. We will lose a lot of income from Portsmouth, Derby, Bolton, Barnsley, Reading, Blackpool, Wigan, Charlton etc when we instead have Barrow, Salford, Crawley and Morecambe et al on a Tuesday night in League 2. We will no doubt lose those games. Vale will still not have any strikers of voting age on the bench. She needs an intervention. David Flitcroft is not the only person the world capable of being PVFC's director of football, Carol.

  5. Completely disagree. It seems like a very sensible thing to do for Moore's first home game. I will be taking advantage of it, and we only need a few hundred to do so in order to boost the attendance. The club is getting stuff wrong but let's not give everything a kicking - this is a good idea.

  6. Our form since September (at which point we didn't win again until December) has us 138th in the form table of the entire EFL + top 3 non-league divisions. 18 points. There's only 5 clubs and 8 points between us and being at the very bottom of 6 x 24 team divisions. Would you like to know the best bit, gents? While we're rubbing shoulders with Dover Athletic (15 points) and Bishops Stortford (10 points) they're still one up on us as both have scored more <ovf censored> goals. We're 142/144 for goals scored since September in the EFL and below. Strikers signed in the January window to correct this horrific record = none. How does she say with a straight face that he's doing a good job?

  7. Since I became Chair of Port Vale I have made mistakes. Appointing Dave Flitcroft is not one of them.
    12 points
  8. Think you should all take a good look at yourselves. Flitcroft nearly signed 9 strikers and he absolutely smashed every single target Carol retrospectively set for him the other week. This abuse simply must stop.

  9. Carol, I never, ever thought I'd find myself saying this but if you don't start to see David Flitcroft for what he is, Port Vale could well die on your watch. That could end up being your legacy. The team that got us up was a much better side than this. We've played two seasons at league one level with a side much inferior to our league Two team. Have we even taken it <ovf censored> seriously since we got promoted? Ripley, Ojo, Devine and Arblaster are the only players we've signed that would've gotten a shirt in that squad since we came up. And two of those only played 6 months, not being our players. That is David Flitcrofts fault. He is the director of football. He puts the squad together. I don't blame most of the players. It's ability and numbers (lack of both) that have us where we are now. I cannot believe the optimism I had for the Vale when you took over. The joy brought by the promotion (the 4th in the 35 years I've been following the Vale. The wave that created and have we ridden that wave? Have we capitalised one bit on that? Christ no!!! Instead you've allowed that absolute pillock to turn us in to a soulless training ground for top tier loan signings. Brilliant, thats Port Vale to you is it? I honestly believe that you do not give one stuff about actual supporters. Your actions are saying just that in not just keeping faith with that utter madman, but actually lording him up to the supporters. Telling us off for daring to become disillusioned at his apparent long termism. Long term? Jesus!!! We're back to whence we came next season. Its absolute failure and the most infuriating part is that it was so, so avoidable. I feel absolutely pig sick.

  10. The thing is, none of this really matters to Dave Flitcroft. Up until last month, he was doing 2 days a week. We were a part-time hobby for him amidst his other 'business interests'. If we go down? Eh. Carol loves him and will blame everyone else, especially those dreadful, abusive fans. It's all part of the long-term plan. Worst case, he gets a lovely payout and can go back to his other interests. The bloke has used us as a toy, trying to run us like Man City for a bit of fun on Tuesdays and Wednesdays before leaving Carol and Paddy to handle it the rest of the week. Anyone with any football experience, like Garlick, are unceremoniously dumped. He's created an atmosphere of supporter-belittlement ("where did everyone go at the end of the Derby game?", the patronising JoeB2Censored). We've got stalwarts like Dicko packing in the fun bus as he's that disenchanted. We've won 11 of 53. A lovely 21% win ratio. Carol thinks Flickers has met all his targets and we're all in the wrong.

  11. Around Christmas time I forced myself to be positive and talked myself into believing this long-term thing we were doing. It was amongst the worst judgement calls I've ever made, against my usual cynical instincts. Even if Moore someone turns this around, Flitcroft has overseen one of the worst 14 month spells in the club's history. We have been atrocious since January 2023. The striker fiasco, dating back 2 years, is a sackable offence in itself, removing the litany of other failures he is responsible for. If Carol doesn't get rid of him then she truly hasn't a clue what she's doing. The man is a complete fraud - inexperienced in his role, given the keys to the club for his 2 days work a week, trying to run a club like Man City without the foggiest idea of how to do it. Carol is putting her personal relationship with David Flitcroft above the interests of PVFC, established in 1876, community institution, and lifeblood to 5-6,000 decent people. She's undoing all her good work, and if relegation does happen, I'll lose no sleep if she decides to walk.

  12. If ever we needed proof that Flitcroft has sold us down the river then that game was it. 60 minutes in. Didn’t look so bad. Then Chislett puts one on a plate for that donkey up front and he couldn’t connect when it was harder to miss the ball. From then on we got battered. Mighten and Chislett who were causing problems come off for Garrity and Massey and then I didn’t understand our formation. Grant came on and robbed a living again. And in the blink of an eye we are two down and the game is over. It’s just all very predictable. Their goalkeeper hasn’t had a save to make again. Strikers win you football matches. In my 43 years of going, the only thing that comes close to this <ovf censored> recruitment is the Norman era of all those crap foreign lads. At least we knew it was a gamble and an experiment. This is just downright ineptness on David Flitcroft. And Carol needs to pull her finger out fast. Moore can’t be free of any criticism tonight though. Those subs were horrific. 3 out of the next 4 at home and 9 points needed. I think we’ve won 3 in 26 is it? Safe to say we’re down through sheer ineptness by Carol Shanahan and her love fest with David Flitcroft. Bring a mate to the next game????? I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Dog <ovf censored>.

  13. Loft linking well with mighten here. Regardless of the result there’s a bit of promise for the rest of the season in this formation imo

  14. <ovf censored> me, after years of having to put up with Rampant Zebra constantly making digs at Clarke we finally get a break from it, just as you start up on about Moore!

  16. I can't wait to see the 'open letter' Carol and our sweet Dave come up with when our relegation is confirmed. I've never felt more distant from the club. Complete and total apathy all around. We have no identity or plan. We are weak, slow and boring to watch. It feels absolutely soulless. That open letter should have been a rallying cry, a kick up the a*se to everybody at the club, Dave included but instead I feel like it's signalling the beginning of the end of Carol's tenure. She's losing a lot of support and very quickly. That letter will come back to bite her. She's losing her legacy.

  17. And whilst we’re at it can we get rid of the d**k head test and actually sign some d**k heads? I’d rather some characters in our team than a squad full of the nicest people in the world. Only Garrity and Ripley are winners and will fight for the shirt. The rest are why we are where we are. I wouldn’t want to be in the trenches with any of them. The club from top to bottom is too nice and it’s reflecting on the pitch.

  21. What I want to see tonight is us going to a back 4. I want us stop tappying it about for 8 minutes then launching in to Lofts head. He needs to play on the shoulder and get in behind. I don’t want to see Dipepa thrown into the lions den again. I don’t want Jason Lowe anywhere near the middle of the park. I want to see Ojo care and take the game by the scruff. And if Nathan Smith plays then tell him before hand to just do the basics because Franco Baresi he is not. But most of all. Win lose or draw. I want every single one of them to leave everything out on the pitch and show the fans they are up for the fight because if they come out with the same shower of a showing that they did on Saturday, it will be a lot more than 3-0.

  22. I honestly think Carol's letter is amongst the maddest things ever to happen to us. It absolutely defies belief. I don't even think Smurthwaite would have the balls to say it. There's serious delusion in that boardroom. Not a single critical voice. Yes-men and family everywhere.

  23. We're doomed. No man could turn this ship around with the resources that have been left. Relegation was assured on the 1st February. Has any other football club got so few strikers as us? The FIRST job, yes the VERY FIRST JOB of any owner of a sports club is to ensure you have the personnel to play the sport you're supposed to be playing. We can't say as a football club that we have that at the moment. 3 transfer windows without bolstering the squad with attackers is nothing less than pathetic.

  24. Ask the players the same. They chose the first option in November. You can shout all you want, but you'd get as much success digging up 11 corpses and cheering them on.

  25. Should have kept Benning Wozza and Pett at least they had a heard for our club !!

  26. Only thing we share in common with Plymouth is that both clubs begin with a P. We needed to stick to our identity as a club on the pitch first and foremost. Our best times were when we were direct and got two wingers pumping balls into the box and trying to beat a man. Instead we've spent all season pissing around trying to be the Burslem Barcelona after Flitcroft had a few good sessions at home on Football Manager and got a bit excited.

  27. Dont know what your on about. Appointing a manager as DOF and her son as CEO in place of a well respected and very good man were strokes of complete genius.

  28. I’ll send this message to Carol now. If you want to keep David Flitcroft at the club because you THINK he’s making you money, then keep him the hell away from ANYTHING to do with the football side and DO NOT under ANY circumstances, give him another transfer window. He is single handedly destroying this football club. And by the way, if the rumours are true and we are paying Ryan Loft around 3k a week, then take it out of Flitcrofts pay, because to chase such a woeful footballer is beyond a disgrace. Open your <ovf censored> eyes fast Carol!!

  29. Yep, I'm heading the same way. The letter was the final straw. It's not just a disagreement - it's a refusal to even see our perspective and belittling us despite the overwhelming evidence. It just strikes as someone who hasn't a clue what she's doing.
    7 points
  30. That’s what we are. That’s all we can do. We know the team isn’t remotely good enough thanks to DF. 0-0 at half time against a side with 4 wins in 6 home games ain’t too shabby.
    7 points
  31. We're in terrible form so we're not going to be the Dutch 70s side. We just need to scrap it out, try and keep a clean sheet and nick one up the other end. At this point it doesn't matter how we get them, we just need points.

  32. Ffs I’m not happy about some of the players we have in this squad but I’m trying my best to get behind them. I will judge after the 90mins on reflection of the game. My point being you said results are important not the performance that was less than a week ago! Now your wanting entertaining football. Which one is it??? I’d more than happily take a draw tonight. Right now we’re level

  35. Jones is genuinely dreadful. Work rate?? I've seen more work out of a Hanley doss house than that shirker. Jones is weak, and barely got by in League Two. He's perpetually injured and doesn't offer anything beyond long range passes which sail out of play or straight to the opposition. One of our worst decisions in the summer along with not getting a striker was giving him a new two year deal.
    7 points
  36. It's like you with Smith mate. I just don't rate him whatsoever. Freed by Salford and ends up at Port Vale for what will be 4 years whist probably playing less than 80 games in those 4 years. The fact he's injured again would sum him up. And you can't deny that a couple of free kicks he gave away on Saturday were beyond awful. And sadly I still remember his performance at Barnsley. He's just never fit is he. Far worse than Wilson.
    7 points
  37. On what basis does Jones make your midfield mate ? If he does his Hollywood ball from further up the pitch it's just going to go for a Reading goal kick.

  38. I’ve only seen the Vale live twice this season away at Exeter - won 1-0 home v Blackpool- won 3-0 don’t know what you lot are moaning about 😄 ( ps - I am going on Saturday - get your money on 😂)

  39. A week ago, fans were living in blind hope he’d be able to get a tune. They still knew the problems. None of this lies at Darren Moores door. It lies at the door of the DOF.

  41. Flitcroft OUT Recruitment for the last TWO years : Absolutely shocking. Flitcroft has to be sacked for this alone. Recruitment team !! Disgraceful. Then we insist on the same formation that has not worked. Yes it was good when Arblaster and Devine and Garrity were on song and thats it. [ We were promoted purely on a six month purple spell from Garrity and his goals helped us massively first half of promotion season ] Never seen such an unbalanced squad of players at Port Vale Jones, two year contract. Wilson, not required and then signed in desperation when we could not get anyone. [ we then learn we were chasing Loft all along ] What has our recruitment team given us. Signings : Ripley , Chislett , Leutwiler - Positives Clark - hopefully but jury still out Sang , Grant , Lowe , Iacovitti , Debrah , Uche , Loft , Wilson - Poor. Not strengthened us. Loans : Arblaster , Devine - excellent Thomas , Weir , Lopata , Mighten , Gore , Williams - Poor. Not strengthened us. Youngsters, our own : Plant , Mc'Dermott , Shorrock , Walters , Diepepa , Brazier , Lomax , Good to say that we are bringing players through but are they ready ? Should they be playing now ? NO Only time will tell if they will be successful for us and that is another two years minimum. Not strengthened us. A complete farce and Flitcroft is responsible for everything football related. Carol GET FLITCROFT OUT OF OUR CLUB NOW

  45. Time for an ode to our hero lads. In celebration of Ryan Loft Lofty me old fruit, You are now at the Vale We chased you for ages In the Brizzle fire sale, And now that we’ve got you, And you’re playing up front Give it some wellie, and don’t be a … silly boy So come on Ryan lad, It’s time to step up We won’t win the league And we won’t win the cup, We need you to score some To slow down our slide You are the one to put goals in our side. And now on onevalefan There are nearly 10 folk Who are fans of your of your pressing And don’t think you’re a joke So get on that pitch and help me win a bet (the goal is that thing with two posts, bar and net) If you score some goals We’ll cheer ourselves hoarse As long as it is At the right end of course If only you knew How we want you to score You’d bang some in now, then bang in some more.
