I'm sure a certain proportion of our fan base that post on here want relegation purely so they can come on here and pontificate just how right they were and how "nobody listened".6 points

I think the fact we are desperate to see if there are any free agents who can come in and immediately do a job shows just what an awful January we had. The problem with free agents is most are nowhere near match fit (look at Ikpeazu who took weeks) so they are not going to be a quick fix. Then there's the big names who will probably expect wages way beyond us (Gayle for instance who's rumoured to be attracting the deeper pockets of Derby) Then there's the "free agents" who may not even be interested (Wickham, as I've posted above, may have just moved on from football after his injuries) I think you may want to take on a free agent who hasn't played for a bit if you've got a decent squad and you're not in a rush to play them. However, we haven't got a decent squad and we are in a rush so if we bring in someone who hasn't played at all this season it's going to be weeks till they are anywhere close. By then we'll have played loads of games and the players he was brought in to cover are likely to be close to coming back anyhow. I think we're made a massive hole for ourselves with the January business and adding a free agent just isn't a quick fix - unless we're really lucky and there's another player like Dwight Gayle, who is match fit, wants to join us, is on reasonable wages and would improve us. I doubt there is, frankly, and I think we may be stuck with what we have - which is a real worry until the likes of Garrity and Ikpeazu come back.4 points

No he didn’t put it in reply to anything. He made a separate post just saying after 4 months out it was nice to be back on the grass. The Vale Twitter account retweeted him not the other way round. Plenty of things to criticise at the moment but this is reaching a bit quite honestly.3 points

Think we should move our mid week games to Thursdays- we haven’t lost on a Thursday for ages 😉2 points

If I was selecting the team for tomorrow's game I would just ask them all "who fancies it?" and make my selection based on the responses. When you are up to your neck in the brown stuff you want first and foremost those that are up for it, not delicate flowers or "bottlers". You never know, we might just catch them off guard as they will obviously be expecting the team that we have been far too many times this season. A scrappy one nil to the Vale.2 points

Going to be one of a list of difficult games here. I fear they're too strong for us to beat, but really hope we can steal a point on the road and keep lifting confidence.2 points

It would appear we have been missing a prolific goal scorer for several transfer windows now, the lack of one almost took us down last season., perhaps DF ought to read OVF. The Posh have always been a tough opponent as people have said even when we have been a good Vale side. We certainly arent one of those at the moment and yes OK the Posh may be having a temporary blip but our league position indicates our blip is of the more permanent type. Would snatch your hand off for a draw now but our lack of goals and the quality of the opposition at home makes me fear the worst.2 points

Peterborough have lost 3 in a row. Another poster (think it was Mr H) says we haven't scored from open play in 6 hours of football. We may be in luck! Peterborough have scored 4 own goals in their last 2 games!2 points

My guess is we set our stand too high, refused to pay the over inflated fees earlier in the month and then had a deal lined up on deadline day that relied on another club making a change which didn't happen - not leaving enough time to pivot. There has to be lessons learnt from this though. And it doesn't excuse the left back issue. Surely we could have loaned Gibbons in until the end of the season on a cheap enough deal. He wasn't my first choice but better than nothing?!??2 points

We can't but your question really needs directing at our DOF and owner. Perhaps they will 'bite-the-bullet' with Moore and a striker?1 point

Wickham may technically be a "free agent" but I'm not sure he wants to play anymore. I can't remember the article but he was linked to another club earlier this season and the piece was saying that it's not entirely clear if he wants to continue to play. I guess that's the thing with "free agents" - they are not necessarily fit, available and have the desire to play. After all, a lot of them are free agents due to long-term injury issues and I would suspect it takes an awful lot of commitment to get back from that sort of thing. Wickham's had loads of injuries and probably also earned a decent amount from the game - he may have decided to move into another job now. I personally hope I'm wrong as we need a short-term fix upfront but I think there's sometimes a grey line between "free agent" and "retired"...1 point

Our biggest problem is its a Tuesday! Why bother turning up! What is it with Tuesday league games ?1 point

What do you mean "at the moment" we haven't been prolific for quite a while apart from the odd blip. Goal difference says it all.1 point

Flitcroft, fair enough on the player recruitment side and clearly, for whatever reason, the Crosby appointment didn’t work out. On the flip side, you have to give him credit for the appointment of Clarke, and with it promotion, or are you ignoring that? I’m not a fan of Flickers but I’ll back Carol’s judgement for a while longer. If we’re relegated then the inquest can be held at that point. Up ‘til then the team need support from the stands. You seem to have an agenda against the owners. I think you’re way out of touch with the vast majority of our fans on that score. It’s easy to come on here spouting drivel so why not make your point, stand outside the main entrance at the next home game and protest away to your hearts content.1 point

Flitcroft’s overall record isn’t mixed, it’s good. All the off field stuff is heading in the right direction. He got 1 managerial appointment right, and without an unforeseen tragedy we wouldn’t have needed to appoint Crosby, who in my view had earned his chance. The elephant in the room is the striker saga.1 point

He’s the standout free agent name but I’d be very concerned about his motivation and fitness.1 point

Just been on Facache and there's people on there calling for tennis balls to be thrown on the pitch. Bloody stupid. As if it isn't bad enough to be in the position that we're in, we don't need <ovf censored> throwing stuff on the pitch, causing the team even more embarrassment and picking up a fine from the FA, which will further reduce the money in the budget. Some people haven't got the brains they were born with.1 point

Agreed. The immediate problem comes in that, no matter what Carol does - we can bring in Alex Ferguson as manager and recruit Messi, Mendy, van Dyke and de Bruyne and it would still not be good enough for most people on here. Whatever she does, whatever money she spends, it will never ever be enough and I fear some sections of the crowd are already turning her into a figure of hate.1 point
