We are moving up, loaning out players to League clubs is an improvement on Conference clubs. The lad needs games, he is still available for cover, or we could loan from higher clubs if needs arise, still a long way to go.

They seem pretty happy with the signing and he will do alright for them, on the basis they have someone who has pace and can win a header.

Not one of the best 4 centre halfs in the squad, so correct decision for me. One or two good games, one or two abysmal games and a lot of mediocrity. Would rather see Joe Davis given a go if Purse, Duffy or Chilvers get injured before McCombe recovers. Good luck to him though.

Clayton is a typical League Two centre half really. Great against a big lump of a centre forward. Troubled against someone with a bit of pace. Eg All at sea against Deon Burton at home to Gillingham. Outstanding against Zola at Burton. Adams thinks he's now down the pecking order so it's a good move for him and I hope he does well.

when at his best clayton is a good player at this level . unfortunately as has been said he does not win enough aerial challenges for my liking especially when you take into account his size (purse , chilvers and davis better imo) ! good luck though clayt you have helped get us to where we are atm and i for one appreciate more what you have done than that which you haven't . hope he does well for rovers .

Agree with that. We can recall him if we encounter problems at the back.

Too right......not like we have been in the top 2 for most the season is it with MAC at the back?? the mind boggles with some fans, it really does.

That post is bang on for me,sometimes i struggle to see what others have seen,for me he has been steady apart from the odd game.

He's been solid all season, in nearly every game he's played in! He may make the odd mistake but what defender doesn't at this level? We've got the 4th best defence in the league and been in the top 3 most of the campaign and he's really played his part!

 

We've brought Purse and Chilvers in (the later really cementing a place in the team) Purse will be one of the 1st names on the team sheet so big Clayts opportunities will be limited, if I was him I'd have been asking to go out on loan... He needs game time to earn himself a deal.
