Match Thread - Bolton v Port Vale

Featured Replies

I'm afraid to say that the clock is ticking for Moore.

3 points out of 6 might save him, in the immediate term.

Anything less - gone!

Now this is a post match interview we'd all like to hear.

DM needs to look at the league table and see what we all see, it isnt working. After the number of games we have played hard luck stories are just a Red Herring, no longer relevant. Has the Manager the ability to see this and then do something about it ? Our promotion season and his reluctance to play 2 upfront suggest he is a slow learner,  and  slow to change. Last season the penny dropped, eventually. Unfortunately the one thing we have learned is regardless of what DM says, he doesnt learn.

Not sure I could stomach the Robbie Savage show, Steve Evans yes, but for a steady hand who seems to have good comms skills, id try and tempt Bowyer from Burton - finance wise, probably within our grasp

Stockport and Bolton are probably 2 of the best 5 teams easily in L1. We were caught in a whirlwind today and just couldn’t stem the tide. I understand why he went with a high press and it was working, but their quality shone through.  It’s leaking goals to really poor sides that needs to stop, Wigan, Leyton Orient etc.

Steve Evans would be decent,  not popular initially but he gets teams fighting and had a decent record. Wouldn’t take any rubbish and did speak of a fondness of Carol in an interview before we played.

Fans would warm to him because he is all action on the touch line and if we get a bad decision he’d be ranting about it.

Otherwise with the rest of the Tolaj money go for a manager in work… Paul Cook excellent manager could we tempt him away?

Do we look at Ainsworth as he is a good fire fighter but probably still in the Moore way of playing football?

Options are there…

good team   good manager !! wrong tactics most of the time from what i can see

@JoeB2- you’re a stats man….::any idea of how many times we’ve lined up in a 3.4.3 and how we’ve faired??

Because anecdotally it feels like a) we keep trying it every 3rd game b) we always play sh!t and c) we always lose.

But I might be wrong.

I'd go as far as to say anyone but Darren Moore

Looks like all the players agree with you

It felt more like a 3421 today rather than a 343. Headley & Garrity seemed to be playing as attacking midfielders.

DM’s refusal to play with anything other than 3 centre backs is worrying when we only have (arguably) one League One quality centre back in our squad.

I watch from afar these days.

I see the moans and the defenders of Moore and I’ll just leave this here.
I’ve not been a game this season.
If Moore gets sacked I will return but I refuse to pay to watch his brand of football.

Heres what I did. I stopped watching anything on social media. From an interview with manager and players to monthly updates on the state of the club.
Instead of being brainwashed by that I sat back and let my eyes tell me what I think every week when watching them at home. And here we go……

Boring football. It’s <ovf censored> dreadful. It’s not edge of the seat football. It’s grim to watch and people can bang on about chances missed etc but the build up is dreadful. We don’t give ourselves chances to win games because the majority of the chances are half chances. We don’t score because we don’t create sitters to miss.

The defence is woeful.
Forget the score in the cup, I watched a backline that were the chuckle brothers against a pub team.

The midfield is garbage.
No legs. No tackles. No fight. No assists. Utter <ovf censored> garbage.

The wingbacks. Don’t get me started. It’s so simple to do homework on us. We don’t change shape. Most are out injured anyway. It’s easy to defend against.

The forward options.
Attrocious.
Having watched us beat the pub team, if you think Faal and Brown are anywhere near league one quality then you’re delusional.
Paton doesn’t get a prolonged run and tries too hard when he’s on the pitch and Cole, like it or not, is a downgrade on Tolaj. Look at his goalscoring record. It’s bang average.

The recruitment.
Woeful.
Some clown from Stoke who was awful at his job gets a job here and here we go again! It’s almost like when Flitcroft was as here!
At least 6 or 7 of the summer signings are utter crap.
Now, add that to the fan reaction when Nathan Smith left and Debrah stayed and look at where Tranmere are! And yet Smith is probably better than Debrah, who is an absolute liability.
Still not convinced about Humphries. Shipley? Garbage. Faal? Garbage. Brown? Garbage. Waine? Garbage. Marosi? Embarrassingly garbage. Probably more I’ve missed.

And then after breaking down that our squad is pretty dreadful….. we come to the fist pumping manager.
A bloke who is a clone of Andy Crosby. A bloke who spins you fans with his utter guff every week. A bloke who would make a good politician. A bloke who must put numbers in a bag and pull them out when picking his team. A bloke who is WITHOUT QUESTION welllllll out of his depth with results in league one football and also the football on the eye.

So from someone who has sat back and watched this garbage from afar and kept quiet and not listened to any spin coming out of the club, I’ll ask you this……… If you are happy going to watch this awful drivel every week. Sitting on your arse. Not singing. Because the product is crap. Then you carry on. I’m happy for you.
However………

Make no mistake……

This manager is absolutely clueless at this level. He must resign or get sacked by Monday. He has lost the dressing room. And I’m so glad I haven’t wasted my money on watching the guff he puts out so FA this season.

When an exciting manager comes into this football club and gives it the kick up the arse it needs, I will return.
Hopefully it will take Sir Darrell Clarke to put him out of all of our misery.

In the meantime I ain’t gonna get embroiled in debates. I’ve become detached enough. But I’ll watch with interest as the club sleepwalk to relegation and Carol, YET AGAIN, will let it happen. Or will she? She holds all the cards.

The reason I stopped going was the utter dross served up by Moore once he arrived.

He had 17 games,we won 2 and he binned off the most creative player we had in Chizzy.

A five year contract was always a risk. Lovely man,but as stubborn as hell with his set up. WBs are only as good as their fitness...Clark and Gabriel for two.

I think Cole is the only hope this season.

And if there can be 4 teams worse than us.

I posted previously to say if you don't win any of your first 7 then you can't afford another bad run. It's no wins in 5

After reading most of the previous pages I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed the change in Vale Fans ?  I cant find one post saying how <ovf censored> the ref was ?   Seems like Moore is Uniting the Fans in their post match thoughts as "<ovf censored> refs" is normally high on the agenda but it seems like "<ovf censored> manager" has knocked it of its top spot.

Had a bit of time to reflect on that pathetic performance while driving home and I think Moore’s position as manager is now at the point of becoming totally untenable. Seems like the majority of fans have started to turn on him and from what was said on the radio, the players aren’t happy under him either.

While the starting 11 was baffling (and I was confused as to why Headley is starting as an attacking midfielder), I thought we started well but as usual we’ve missed our chances, Bolton have then scored twice with their first two chances and it’s game over. It’s a carbon copy of Stockport at home.

As soon as the second goal went in it was game over. Moore stood there dejected, devoid of all passion, unmotivated and that has transcended down to his players.

We don’t have any real leaders. Garrity isn’t a leader and appears to have fallen out with the fans, other players and the manager. Instead of burying that and discussing it he just seems to be in a sulk about it. He should have been sent out to do the post match interview, not Kyle John. Also just read that captain fantastic didn’t travel back with the squad either and flat out refused to get on to the team coach.

DM’s absolute refusal to play with anything other than 3 centre backs when we have only one decent, League One level centre back in our entire squad is driving me absolutely nuts. Sick of seeing it.

We are hurtling towards being cut adrift at the bottom with a squad of players with zero fight or passion. That is very worrying.
