Match Thread - Bolton v Port Vale

Featured Replies

I thinking looking at the team sheet and seeing 1 up front set the tone.  Ok we did well for the first 25 minutes and should have taken the lead but didn’t and it's all if's and but's.  Once they scored, we gave in and capitulated in style.

Today we looked a far cry from the few good results and performances that we have achieved so far this season, and the inconsistence is alarming.

We know a successful side is pretty much a stable 11 week in week out and still you have no idea who Darren is going to pick and why.

I do not see any change going forward at all and if it were me in charge, I would tell him that's he's got the next 2 home games and nothing short of 100% commitment and 6 points will do.

At the end of the day’s, it's Carol's business and Carol's money but if you want a successful business you need to make cold hard decisions from time to time or slowly slip away.

DM inherited a squad in Lge 1 with very few goals in it and dropping like a stone after losing Arblaster and Devine. A team that can't score goals has less chance of winning games and getting 3 points to get out of a relegation scrap.

You won't get any disagreement out of me about signing Faal and Waine although I think the latter is one to try and develop for the future. Positives from the recruitment side are Gaucci, Humphreys, Gabriel, Johnson, G Hall and Cole, why focus on the negatives.

Who's accepting relegation, I'm certainly not. For me the season started when Devante Cole was signed and initially Vale did well but unfortunately we've lost the last 3 games, Wigan was a crap shoot, Stockport played as well as they'll play all season and Bolton with the players they have, if they play as consistently home and away as they've done today will win this league.

We do have great owners but remember the last time we got relegated there were Vale fans calling for the them to resign, which I vehemently disagreed with.

Perhaps given my time as a Vale fan I'm more phlegmatic than most but I don't want to see any bath water chucked out with any baby in it.

Well you answered your or. Question there any man that signs mo faal ben waine or even him from derby for league one level a think deserves the sack for that in itself no way are them 3 worthy of being a pro footballer not a cat in hells chance !

I think our upturn in form coincided with Gabriel playing and cratered when he was injured. He was such a threat from the wings and that's where all our chances come from as the midfield is pedestrian. John simply cannot offer anywhere near the same output.

This is what we get for signing known crocks though. What did all Blackpool fans say when we signed him? ‘Good when fit’. Sick of signing crocks.

But Mr moores has put his squad together for over a year, and he can't get a tune out of HIS players. So the common denominator is him . He couldn't motivate the last relegation team to one more win, and he is doing the same with his chosen men.

The OP was talking about a common denominator from the last relegation season and this one.

The last relegation team wasn't his team.

Out of the last 7-8 Lge games we've had 3 wins and 1 FA Cup win, DM got a tune out of them in those  games.

Carol will not sack him, she always seems to look at the best in.people.  I have no doubt Moore is a great guy but he doesn't motivate people and is tactically inept, I have nothing against Carol her family only want the best for the club, but it's time for her to call it and give us a chance of staying up so an incoming manager can assess the squad and make changes in January.

Carol should break the bank to get Ainsworth. Never going to happen though sadly. Moore has the safest job in football.

I have been a Moore supporter and then this season more of a Moore defender. But the last few weeks and particularly today has been a turning point for me.

I've said a few times that I don't think he does pick names from a hat, as many suggest, and he has always got a plan for every game, but if I could use a comparison... in Father Ted, he borrows a car and dints it so tries to tap out the dint with a hammer and makes more damage, so tries to fix that damage by hammering out the dints, he keeps fixing dints with the hammer until he has destroyed the car. It feels like Moore has gone from his game plans and thought he'll try something different, didn't work, try something else, didn't work, try something else and before you know it everything is completely over thought and the team is a mess, tactics are bizarre, players out of position or not starting despite seemingly in form or being subbed when clearly the only bright spark on the pitch.

The problem is, as a very pragmatic manager, when it works we can live with the style of play because we're getting results. But when it's not working it's a hard watch. But that today looked like a team so fragile it's only going one way. On top to begin with, concede a goal and complete head loss.

I don't remember the last time I left a game early but today it was on 73 minutes. I can't see him being sacked this month, I think he'll get the next couple of weeks with the home games coming up. But if he did go, then let's just say I don't think the team would get worse.

Evening Vale Heads.

Thought we played really well for the first 30 mins and could easily have been 2-0 up if their keeper hasn't made some brilliant saves. Sitting with my Bolton m8 said that, their keep last year, would t have made those saves.

Disappointed to see how our heads dropped so easily with the first two goals.

Thought we came out strong again second half but went to pieces when the third went in.

I know everyone on here is calling for DMs head but the players have to take some responsibility here too

Also got to give Bolton credit. They were very good.

See you all next weekend for Wycombe

I have to give you your dues osh, you always manage to turn a sh!t show into a positive some how.

The clamour for Moore to go is not unexpected. However, Carol won't press the panic button just yet. She will only do so when she absolutely has to because a new manager for the moment can only use the same squad.

I believe she will give him until the end of the month before considering replacing him unless things get really dire as the last two league games have been.

Don't be surprised if she gives him until after the Bristol Rovers game in December to try and turn things around. After all, doesn't he still have 4 years of his contract to go in theory?

There’s a very difficult conversation to have about what Devante Cole does when he doesn’t score goals.

In a decent team, Cole will score plenty of goals in this league. He's a good all round striker but he isn't even feeding on scraps, he is feeding on the offcuts of scraps. The fact he already has 4 league goals is a minor miracle.

If we do the same thing we did with Crosby it’s unforgivable. It’s very clear we are too far gone now.

Sacking him now gives them time to recruit someone new, then gives the new manager chance to assess the squad ahead of the January window and give him a chance to address issues.

Saw a thing on Faceache. Apparently OJo had posted on SM that he was OK and doing Lift ups on a door.
Moore should have got rid of him and he needs sacking for it.
it shows there is obvs some discontent but to me however talented OJo he needs

That wasn't Ojo, the person in the pic had hair, Ojo bald

Nippy took em long enough mate still might take a few months…. No wonder specsavers charge over thee odds!

I wonder if the pair of you can spell or learn the English language by the end of the season?

Who is our best defensive midfielder. Croasdale on the bench. Who is our best attacking midfielder. Hall on the bench. Who is one of our best 2 strikers. Paton on the bench. Moore is useless. The team is easily capable of a lower mid table finish. Moore needs to be sacked asap
