Match Thread - Bolton v Port Vale

Featured Replies

Not sure if Evans is decent L1 manager or just a good L2 manager, though I'm sure someone will give enlightenment on his stats at both levels.

100%, but that’s his style of play, feed off others- he’s a goal scorer, and I agree with you, if he ain’t scoring goals then he offers very little although you will get loads who disagree with us. He should never be played as a lone striker, if we have to play a lone striker then it should be Paton, someone who works his socks off

Ruari and Devante looked very good when they were playing up front together so what does Moore decide to do drop Ruari and since then it is noticeable that our form drops off we stop scoring goals and our attacking thread completely disappears.

I need a drink of whatever Swanny has had to be honest.

His determination and character are valuable assets for us. these qualities are much needed throughout team at the very least , even when the quality is lacking. The whole set up with formation, team selection and rotation is just wrong and the players seem to be jaded and frustrated by this. I didn't expect us to win today but the performance and lack of confidence on the pitch is alarming.

I do agree but i think he is third choice behind Gabriel, Clarke but even then not good enough. I have backed him all season and still think he should always be in the squad but it isnt enough for us in div 1

It seems like we get to this point every 18months-2 years, where the players don't want to player for the manager any more.  I think that some of these players need to have a bit of a look at themselves.

Seems to happen in lots of clubs probably there is no single factor. If the players decide, maybe just the key players, that they are not being used properly their morale drops. What they are doing is hoping for a change in motivator/organiser to improve their team results and so their reputation, bonuses etc. The motivation was there in the early months of this season, can it be restored?

We’re not even playing badly when the game is 0-0. We look pretty good.

The issue being we’re not League 1 standard in either box and then crumble when the first is conceded.

There is a decent League 1 team in this massive squad which needs some sensible management.

Disagree that we have a decent league 1 team within the squad. Need the good balanced squad for that. Too much emphasis needed to protect a poor back three. Sacrifice the attacking style needed to create goal chances, without which, we dont create chances for goalscorers in the team. Without those chances i am not sure our strikers would score the goals we need

Massive MASSIVE mistake by Headley today for the first goal. Agree we looked good. OK no goal but decent all round set up and play. Chances created were not poor misses, they were half chances and we did not score. Bad mistake and we let a topo team get on top, gain confidence and yes, we then crumble.

At Northampton Bolton missed two sitters and Northampton did not crumble. Not sure if we have had that sort of performance so far.

Garrity started well today but possibly the most guilty of giving in after we went behind.

Gone downbank since he returned!🤔

I very much doubt anything of this has anything to do with Sir John as joint club president. If we are blaming club presidents, what the hell was President Robbie done?

No involvement whatsoever

Worried...

He has now managed 32 league 1 games as our gaffer and we have won 5

However for finishing runners up last season he should have credit in the bank.

I would be calling in the loan should we mess up the next 2 home games !!

Nope he's got no excuses these are his players

The buck stops with the manager and coaching staff

Biin The manager off otherwise prepare for league 2 footy

His players, his coaching staff.

Are they his recruitment team. Biggest question of all. If answer is yes then he does need the push. Failed completely this summer recruitment. Dont forget also that they are currently working on the next recruitment drive.

Same question applies to DM

Get him gone absolutely shambolic. Team selection formation approach is all <ovf censored> terrible. Garrity has been pathetic for weeks. He hasnt got a clue im afraid and its time for him to go. We are down if not. What a waste of a Saturday afternoon

Relegation fodder at this rate 13 points from 15 games - 8 goal difference.

Appalling !

DMs team now not like last time and his tactics built around his team with his coaches.

He needs to change and keep consistency and play the best in form player.

One could argue that sacking the manager every 2 years (or less) is doing the same thing over and over again.

And One could argue chopping and changing the team contributes to confusion , apathy and annoyance amongst our players  and fans , enough is enough , Darren isn't learning from his mistakes and needs to be binned off asap
