We played well because we never looked stretched. Moore likes teams that keep their shape but tend not to break down the shape of the opposition either. However like last season’s games, if we get the goals that’s not really a problem and we look at ease. Lost a few midfield battles but if the defense keeps its structure, it isn’t a big deal once we have the goals. 

Thank god we’ve got the first win out the way finally. Weirdly that’s probably the most good chances we’ve given to the other team and it’s the one we win!

Great finishes from both Paton and Cole.

The major positive for me now is that when we have been losing games it always seems to be by the odd goal and we know that we create chances,so now that we have strikers who are in form this is going to make a massive difference to us which means more results will come and imo we will easily be in mid table at the very least come the end of the season

Cole's goal shows the benefit of having a quality striker available. Great movement to get in between the centre halves, great burst of pace to get away, good bit of strength to keep the chasing defender at arms length, drew the keeper and then just calmly slotted it under him. Great forward play.

I know it’s only 1.5 games but Cole and Paton is looking a very promising like partnership. With Stockley to come back  it’s looking good up front all of a sudden.

my view:

Gauci looks top class (kicking aside, but we’ll overlook that). At least 3 really fantastic saves. Very strong catching etc. he’s got to be no.1, though I like Amos so it’s harsh on him.

Garrity back in the side is the missing link, to state the obvious. He makes the other 2 midfielders he works with look far more assured and confident in their roles, so it elevates the whole team.

I really like Gordon, great defender and only slightly more conservative than Headley. He needs a run of games.

Cole is quality. Fast and devastating in front of goal.

Very harsh of Sproey to say the first goal was simple and easy. It came from high pressing, a quality interception from Byers and a decent finish. They were forced into a mistake, it wasn’t just a loose pass.

He didn’t look favourite when it was played through, but ended up easily taking the ball into his feet due to pace. Nice to see.
