Superb pass by Paton for the second goal.

It was considering he was about to get nailed by their player as well

I think you are right on how Moore thinks there but i do really hope he sticks with Paton and Cole as his front two because we know there are goals there and the good thing is we have Brown,Faal and Waine who i do think can be very effective coming off the bench when defences are tiring

And Stockley whose nod-ons for Brown and Cole could create a lot of goals

How he raced through was the best part for me,i was screaming for a foul on Paton at the time and then Devante GOAL just ran through the middle of the 2 defenders and didn't panic once, his control and finish was just coolness personified, whatever signing on fee and wage we are paying it is well worth it.......... a proper striker

You always thought he would score as well.

The equaliser against Orient impressed me, finally we have a proper striker always on the move in the penalty of expecting the defender to make a mistake or the keeper to parry the ball.

He’s a proper striker.

Credit to Paton. When Tolaj left and Stockley was injured, the club then signed Faal,Cole and Brown. He must have thought his days were numbered.

An excellent ball to Cole for the second and a strikers first time finish for his goal. I really hope he and Cole get a run of games now although if Cole was on the bench for the first round, will he be missing the Arsenal game?

Moore stuck with the same 3 CBs,I agree with his choice of WBs and the MF looks balanced.

Perfect away win and let's hope the team kicks on now.

Mansfield,Barnsley, Northampton,Wimbledon,Wigan,Stockport.

A chance to pick up some points

People may disagree, but while Tolaj has a higher ceiling due to his age, i think Cole is a far better player for us currently and will score more goals. He will make a massive difference this season (the difference between scrapping to stay up and mid table possibly).

I dont think it was DM’s plan was have Paton in the starting 11, I think he was probably 6-7th choice. But I’ve got a lot o respect for the guy to fight his way into the team to prove himself. I just wish we had gone for quality over quantity in the transfer window. For example, Shipley is possibly 7th choice midfielder now, and Waine and fall 5-6 choice strikers. We have a massive squad, combine their wages and bring in someone else of Cole’s quality and things would look even better.

Trying not to get carried away and say im no longer concerned. Though maybe it’s natural to hope now that it all clicks and we go on a mental run, but i do think Exeter will struggle this season. Massively cut their budget this year and you can probably tell.

Cole is far more accomplished player than Tolaj at this moment in time.

I’d disagree Paton was 6th or 7th choice. He was due to start on the opening game of the season and only missed the month of games due to injury.

Agree we have quantity( except CB) however I would also say it’s too early to write off players.

Paton well i hope he turns this season around

2 on target attempts 2 goals yesterday this is how ruthless opposition have been nice for us to the ruthless side .

When Walters Ojo play a more exciting side watch the midfield yesterday just workers generally

We take the win but at times we are so awful on the ball ,booting it too no one no cohension ,poor generally in that first half yesterday .

I dont think we need 3 centre halfs i think we can do away with one .

At Birmingham was the way go for me id still have Walters and Ojo in starting line up next weekend ,we at home i dont want see opposition have double passes than us ..

Yesterday was a back to basics win still think think we have played a 1000 times better than that.

Nice get win but apart from what i saw first half  Gauci Hall Paton and Cole i wouldnt say i was thrilled with work of other 7 .

Needs to improve greatly

I think we were destined to win with the two omens that we came across before we had even arrived at the ground as at the hotel where we were saying at the night before they had an Elvis tribute act on where he performed The Wonder of You and then in Exeter City Centre we saw a man playing Irish music. In many ways it was the perfect weekend.

Yes,like i said we all have differing opinions on either the manager, the players etc and that's all good even if it does get to me at times but we all know the ones that are just pathetic and who do go missing during wins

We can't all be whiter than white like yourself , eh ,anyway everyone is entitled to an opinion at the end of the day whether you agree with them or not .and as the great Frank Sinatra used to sing Thats life😎  anyway Up The Vale

First of all, what a win. Was it the win we wanted or the one we needed… definitely the latter!

In terms of a game to watch it was quite poor really but as a team we did our job and we won ugly as Moore said we would. We clearly went back to basics this week and it worked. Would I like to see us playing this way all season? No. But was I happy to see it yesterday… you bet I was!

Exeter fans will think they were the better side and it’s easy to see why - they had a lot more of the ball - but I can only think of one really good chance where Niskanen poked it weakly wide from a good run. Anything else they did was pretty routine and I don’t feel like they ever truly troubled us.

We played well because we were organised and defended well. Cole and Paton up top will start to click soon. Ruari just needs to sort his touch out because he is very intelligent and a cool finisher. When he does - and I believe he will - he will be a good striker for us. I believe we are probably his ceiling though so I hope he grows into a fantastic cult striker for years to come.

What a signing Cole is. What a win! On to Mansfield and hopefully a more positive performance but with the same result.

Fans never seem to grasp that a team will adapt their play depending on the game state.

We looked stodgy and reserved, but we were leading away from home for most of the match and by 2 goals for the entirety of the second half. There was zero incentive to be expansive and it was completely sensible to shut the game down. When you add in the context of thrown away points and a winless run, killing the game as a spectacle was the correct move and superbly executed from a management and player’s perspective. Why would we press and leave space for zero gain?

Grecians may think they looked far better than us but we managed the game brilliantly and it was reminiscent of what Moore did to us as Wednesday boss when they went up. They never really dominated but never needed to. We didn’t need to impose ourselves as we were in a very comfy position.

If we can combine the intensity of our performances in the winless run with the lethal finishing and game management of yesterday, we’ll rack up points in no time.

Moore also got his subs right. Brought mobility on up front late on to ensure we couldn’t be squeezed and had to be wary of a channel ball.

The worst we’ve played but the best he’s coached this season.

We got the win, which we desperately needed. Delighted.

The next challenge is to play well at home and win.  I'll settle for just 'win' next weekend, that'd be a good start.

Totally agree

We might find out how light we are at CB if Heneghan has done his calf(hopefully it is cramp but how he just pulled up hope it's not more serious)

It does seem to be something of a self-own. 😆
