Match thread : Port Vale v Colchester United, 1st Oct

Need to concentrate here. This is exactly the sort of game that they could pinch thru frustrating us endlessly.
We need more zip and pace around the box. Most crosses have been slow and floaty and no real threat from us.
Hate games like this but its upto us to find a way thru it in a positive way

They don't want to play football...we are struggling to play and the ref is falling for all the delays tactic. They are giving us that much space with the ball but we have no urgency in our play

What a fecking awful game of football get hackford off ffs

I can understand that guys Colchester mates frustration watching all this football but just missing that end product.

What an awful game of football. Vale have no intensity at all. Passing to slow. No desire

I wouldn’t say there is no desire. We’re trying, we are too slow with everything but we’re trying. They have just turned up to ruin the game and are succeeding

Typical Cowley Bros negative rubbish, we need a bit more oomph up front, I'd bring on both Paton and Tolaj to mix it up with them. The game is passing Hackford by, I think he's touched the ball about 3 times.

Horrible side these, proper <ovf censored> all the way through, especially that No.9.

I think this is the sort of attritional game that you get in L2 and to me, it has the feeling of that Salford home game (the one with the tractor I think it was) where they literally did nothing offensively other than score and we couldn’t break them down.

I don’t think this is game for BBB as he’ll get kicked off the park, likewise Curtis, but we need a bit of trust and pace  somehow.

Vale lacking someone to just do something different, something unpredictable. can't understand the selection of Hackford over Tolaj or Paton.

Got players on the bench who can change it but when will DM bring them on.

Some of the most blatant and disgusting play acting I've seen on a football pitch.

BBB and Diamond must be injured to not be in this matchday squad.

These are simply a disgusting team to watch. Feel sorry for their fans. Dirty cheating bastards.

Tolaj to come on in the whole and Curtis on the right to get some better width for me.

I’d put Richards on at half time. Shame Benicio isn’t in the squad, this is the perfect game for him.

Also, this game highlights the need for a left footer at left back.

Not too dissimilar to the first half against Swindon, their keeper hasn’t made a save but Colchester are slightly better than Swindon. Need to speed it up 2nd half, more movement off the ball.

We have the players on the bench to win this game in the second half. Score one and we'll get two. Haven't seen anything of this side (Colchester) that suppose to create and squander a load of chances. They've done next to nothing.

We need to up the pace, move the ball quicker and be a bit braver taking on players instead of checking out all the time.

Colchester are embarrassing with their negative tactics and play acting and ours is a typical tuesday night performance we never seem to have any energy in these midweek games.

Tolaj for hackford is a no brainer.

He walked off without any help. Seemed more of an impact injury so hopefully nothing too major.

This is going to be one of those games just find a way somehow of sneaking it and then getting out of there. We need to not let frustration show though and maintain discipline as annoying as playing against this is.

Always fear the worst with knee injuries. As you say, he walked off but so did Rodri against Arsenal and he’s out for a good 12 months.
