Match thread : Port Vale v Colchester United, 1st Oct

Completely anti football from Colchester here. It’s working as we can’t get going at all.

They are sitting in but we haven’t helped ourselves leaving most of our creative players on the bench. Need Curtis on at half time give us some width and creativity

Pretty dull stuff this, it’s like going back 12 months to Cros-ball.

Hackford just isn’t ready yet, so I’d be getting Tolaj on.

These are taking the p!ss with the “injuries”.

Oh my God their no 9 is ridiculous with his “dying swan” act.

Definitely foul and a booking for Heneghan there but it was hardly worth a quadruple roll from their player after.

Paton or Tolaj on for Hackford second half please. Did nothing on Saturday and not much in that first half.

Why’s he rolling like he’s been shot. I wouldn’t be starting hennegan, way too slow, hasn’t impressed me at all, I would start Deborah and then smith over them both when he’s available.

These are terrible and only here to steal a point. We're a little bit predictable and are really missing Benicio who just offers something a bit different. Would be bringing on Tolaj and Curtis for the second half.

We we're 0-0 in the last game at half-time and we went on to win, and we will do again.

It’s a sign of how strong we are that they’ve tried to kill the game from the off.

Good as Stockley is the air, these crosses we keep putting in are food & drink to their big CB’s. Likewise these pot shots we take. Need more creativity to get in behind them.

Just about every side in the league will be delighted with a point here. It's up to us to score early in games and make the opposition come out and play a bit more.

How bad was the Byers Injury ?

They’re sitting in as expected and are spoiling the game. I think they’d have a decent chance if they tried to counter as there front men look ok. Horrible cheats, hope we push on 2nd half. I would be getting Curtis and Tolaj / Paton on at half time.

Colchester’s anti-football style of play is working. Got to find a way to break them down. A couple of subs are needed second half.

He walked off without any help. Seemed more of an impact injury so hopefully nothing too major.

This is going to be one of those games just find a way somehow of sneaking it and then getting out of there. We need to not let frustration show though and maintain discipline as annoying as playing against this is.
