Match thread : Port Vale v Colchester United, 1st Oct

Featured Replies

Watched the first half of the game and thought they had Walsall on the ropes and could easily have had a couple before the break, I was surprised Walsall put 4 past them so they obviously give you chances, if we want to achieve anything this season then these need to be put to the sword, on our day we have the squad to do it lets get a win on a Tuesday night............

Always a tough one for me. A Vale fan to the core but have grown up in Colchester so follow them closely.

I'm surely the only Vale fan in history that has had a Col Utd and Vale season ticket !

They have been very hot and cold this season. I think if we play to our strengths we should win by 2 or 3. Their fans aren't happy with the team or the chairman so far so fingers crossed we can take advantage of that.

They offer up plenty of chances but do create plenty too.

My wattsapp cricket team group chat will be on fire tomorrow night as we have 7 Colchester fans V 1 Vale.

Cmon u whites. I need this one to shut a few up!

195 away fans at best at a guess!!!!

I think it's a work in progress. To me the Team is going to get better and better. With the Fans being the 12th Man will make a big difference. No wonder Notts County don't want to sell the Vale anymore tickets. But something should be done to smooth them over. If Port vale can take 4,000 or 5,000 than that's revenue you cannot turn away.

We wouldn’t be taking anywhere near those numbers. 2.5 - 3k far more likely. That’s still a fair few quid in ticket sales and revenue from sales in the concourse to pass up.  They obviously feel they can turn the extra revenue down, or the local constabulary have made a decision for them.

I have to be honest but i must be the only one who hasn't really been impressed with BBB

I'm also really impressed by BBB, surprised he didn't start or even make the match day squad on Saturday, I assumed he'd got a knock or something.

Expect him to be in the match day squad Tuesday if fit but it just shows the riches DM has at his disposal and the tough decisions he has to make.

Anyone know what's happened to Diamond Edwards, one amazing cameo at Salford and he's gone AWOL.

Is the game at risk at all?  It’s been pissing down for ages.

Ages? It was fine on Saturday it’s now Monday.  You’d hope after spending a load of time and money on the pitch over the last two summers it would be able to stand up to the last couple of days.  My back lawn’s not cutting up much and that’s after just a bit of top dressing and some weed ‘n’ feed costing the grand total of about £15.

It be intriguing to see who he selects.

I guess the last minute equaliser at Accrington meant the lad from SU deserved a start .

For me tonight I'd like see Paton get a start .

Don't know anything about Colchesters defenders but if all big why not rest Stockley as season evolves we need all players step up and do something on different matchday s.

Hope we get a good attendance and everyone singing Darren Moore's Black and White army throughout .

Going be a very hard game tonight we need be on it from first whistle to last .

Like our Barrow defeat Colchester had there Barrow defeat sat .

We must not go into game with complacency we haven't made it yet and we must treat Colchester like we playing a team flying

I'm expecting a buzzing home crowd we won 3 out of last 4 deservedly .

I want to be saying we deserved win tonight at 21.55

Team changes by the hr for me but ultimately it's down to DM to play those who he feels can

1 win the game

2 put the kind of application ,performance in to deservedly win the game

If we gave 30 goal attempts and there goalies having a blinder and we draw 0-0 then i will applaud that

Tuesday night games have for a number of years now bar Mansfield away in Cup being a shocker .

Let's hope tonight the start of enjoying Vale at home on a Tues.

Got to play Stockley against these really, shouldn't really need to rest players particularly as its the only three game week in about 5 or 6 weeks we have (next is Harrogate Oct 21st, last was Wolves kids 3 weeks back).

These will battle hard under Cowley's and likely offer some physicality so Jayden is a must.

I'd like to see Stockley and Paton get a go together actually, but think it was be one change Hackford for Chissie.

Going off their forum they aren't a physical team at all this season. They're not an aggressive, in your face side like Accrington.

The Cowley's must have had a change of style then!

I lost a good friend this morning 😞 76 years old he was more like a Grandad & had a heart of gold. Big United fan but converted to a Valiant the last few years. You know the one 😉 His favourite player Tolaj! Couldn’t praise the guy enough.. Give us a goal & 3 points later Lorent 👊🏻 3-0! A Swiss brace & Chislett

Edited by VTID-New

I think these may try to bring us down to their level if we start on the front foot..

Early goal similar to Chesterfield would do nicely.

2-0 Vale.

Onto Notts County

Colchester are a team that should be doing better as a club than they are. Nice modern stadium and always seem well run with some good young attacking players always in their teams. They just don’t get the attendances to push on. This could be a good match, but one I think Vale will edge if we attack them. My worry is, that this is the sort of fixture where classic “Moore ball” may return and we just let them play. Hope that’s in the past now.

Sorry to hear this.  R.I.P.
