James Wilson - out for the season

I suppose it will depend if makes an insurance claim. I think TP did and as a result wasn’t allowed to play higher than than the eighth tier.

Sad as I am for Wilson, and grateful for his promotion contribution, we need to sign some strikers / forwards who score goals. If we had a regular goal scoring striker, alongside Garrity and Chislett whose goals are reasonable for forwards, we would not be fighting relegation. I appreciate Dipepa is now a contender in the forward roles.

He’s our best player technically no question, however he is made of glass and spend most of the season on treatment table . Time to say thanks James sadly if we stay in league 1 , however if we go down I’d keep him as the 4th forward , 30 minutes off the bench every week .

Very sad for James really. A local lad who has bags of talent and should be playing at a much higher level. Quality technical player. I wish him well and yes, if fit, I'd re-sign him. We don't have better.

Firstly this season he's played 31 times. That's way above his career average.  Injury has undoubtedly taken a toll, he was once allegedly the fastest player at United.  The sad truth this season is he hasn't been very effective.  4 goals and no assists in 31 games isn't that great. There have been odd moments of magic. Sadly too few and far between. He's not an instinctive penalty area striker, no a physical hold up type of player.  He's no longer quick enough to play on the shoulder of the last defender.  I still think he could do a job as one of 2 10s but I think he's no longer capable of playing as a 9.

He's totalled less than 18 games this season and was it similar last season?

Why should we keep someone with that kind of record?

Do not mask it  up by saying he's played 31 times when his game time's been less than 18 games.

You got to love Vale fans.

Lets give  a striker that is always is injured and only scored 8 goals in 2 seasons.

and let's also give the other striker a new contract that's only scored 1 goal for us all season

Sad to see Wilo out for the season. Little bits of genius here and there which most players at this level are not capable of. He’s hasn’t done it enough though given his ability.

Probably the last we have seen him in a Vale shirt. The end sums up his last 2 years.

Oh come on, that's very harsh. We all know James Wilson is a quality player when fully fit, his ability has never been in doubt. His problem is that he isn't fully fit very often and if he was he would be playing higher than League 1.

That’s what the transfer window is for. Let’s offer Massey a new deal as well as we don’t have better. Makes no sense what so ever. 4 goals and 0 assists in 31 games is dire. I also fail to see why he should be playing at a much higher level.

Game time is 10th highest in the squad and appearance numbers 13th highest.

He's made 21 league starts 6 league sub, 1 start league cup, 3 sub appearances in the JPT. Minutes on the pitch maybe about 18 games. How is 31 appearances incorrect 🤔

Total game time (90 minutes) = less than 18 games in total which is poor.

Re-read what I put in regards to the 31 appearances.
