We’re not world beaters and Oxford look to have recruited well so this is almost a free hit given our history down there.  I never do predictions.  2-1 Vale. 👊🏻

And manage to off load Stephens and Taylor so they’ve done well.

They have beaten Charlton (H 2-1), Barnsley (A 3-1), Derby (A 2-1) and Carlisle (H 1-0). They lost at Cambridge 2-1. They finished off the Charlton manager following his debacle against us the previous weekend. That's a tough enough set of fixtures supporting the conclusion that they have done well to be top of the table and may be capable of competing amongst the top teams for the rest of the season. So, most of all we must show up resilient in defence and then capable of effective counter attacks taking the chances we get. It's a good test of where we really are.

Proper bogey ground, had missed penalties, a half way line goal, even a 90th minute equaliser then conceded straight away as well as the 4-0 pumping!

Due some luck but this will be tough, they've a kid who's come through who looks to be doing very well, scored at the weekend and have recruited well.

That said, we deserve to be 6th, performances are good and so why not? Draw would be decent ahead of 3 very winnable games to follow.

A free hit, but I would still be disappointed if we get beat. After the start we have had I don't think we have anyone to fear. Yes we will lose some games but at kick off I don't think we will be fearing anyone and will be believing we can win.

"A free hit"?  It's Oxford who struggled with us last season, we are not playing Arsenal.

This is perhaps the first proper test of the season so far as we are playing a team actually in form rather than some of the perceived "bigger" teams who have recently been relegated or historically spent time in the Premier league. Could have a better idea of where the season is heading after this.

Taken from the Oxford forum....Not sure what we have done to these other league 1 sides but this "little Club" quote is spreading...lol

0-1. We’re Oxford.

It's only little Port Vale, we even beat them last season. What can possibly go wrong.

Only been a league club for less than 60 years. What a terrifying behemoth of footballing stature.

League Cup Winners and a few seasons in the top tier, but a smaller ground than a rising Port Vale. Always grateful that they let us have Martin Foyle.
