Anyone remember the 4-0 at their place in the 90s. The ref had this weird habit of blowing his whistle extra long throughout their game. He blew for a free-kick with about 5 minutes to go and their 'keeper (Alan Knight?) thought it was for full time and sauntered off. Oh the stick he got when he sheepishly made his way back.

Happy days.

We did get done there 4-0 1999...

Jessie Marsh is sooo pumped up, and his Leeds team are the same.
DC and Vale?
I'm sure Breadwinner will have something to say about that
Vale should come out fired up sat .
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbanks a bad manager cause they lost to Vale on that new highlights programme ,nonsense belittling the Vales performance so let's do it to the cowley brothers now .
There's nowt fear hope the crowds a almighty one and every Vale fan who goes to the game gets behind the lads in Black and White and we see DC slide down the touchline when someone scores a fabulous goal .
V Bolton first half the home crowd were excellent so like that for both halfs ,the singers should move to the end we are attacking theres room because I moved there v Bolton .

Yes, Mellor was giving the Bycars some back after the incident, and winding them up. Those were the days when players got involved with the crowd a bit more, and there was plenty of back and forth going on, especially when Mellor was taking goal kicks and had to get the ball back from the crowd.

I think it was a lad called Ian Humphries who ran on and had a go at him.  (If you are on here Ian, and it wasn't you, many apologies!), my memory isn't what it was.  Might have mentioned before that at a game not long after in the programme crossword, there was a clue that was "He's good over fences and causes offences".  The answer was supposed to be Harvey Smith, the show jumper who used the v sign on the odd occasion, but a lot of Vale fans wrote down Ian's name instead as their answer!

These days of course, that would give the club a real headache after the events of the Swindle game.

I remember Ian Humphries running on the pitch and punching the keeper, I always thought it was V Fulham though.

memory not what it used to be.

No that be it just enjoying every new challenge in L1 ,never really expected be in this league so every game a bonus but can already see that we more than capable of giving teams a game and that's what it's all about .
Should be no pressure on us we are a growing club in the background as long as every game I see effort heart and determination happy with that .

I thought the ITV highlights show was dreadful. That's aside from the PV component. It does everything twice to make a long show. I am not going to watch it again.

Back to Saturday. I think we must prioritise defence and getting a cleansheet. Then when we are on the ball be effective and try to win 1-0 or 2-0 with say 40% possession.

It was Pompey.

The fan was Ian Humphries.

The player brought down was Kenny Todd.

Peter Mellor had a black belt.

I think Ian Humphries had a snake belt.

It didn't end well...

I remember it well. Just as you describe.

However in the back of my mind wasn't Ian Humphries a relative of either Alex or Keith Humphries who were directors at Stoke.... I seem to remember Alex Humphries from Ramsdale Hall at Scholar Green and thought Ian was a bit of a rebel  nephew ?

Of course I may be wide of the mark here (I usually am).

I do definitely remember Peter Mellor coming out in a wig at Vale at some point though .. I think.

Anyway really looking forward to this game against a great club, one I d class as a proper football club not made by foreign investment.
