I'm on the fence about Aspin, purely because if he was to leave, he would only be replaced by another cheap option.

 

And also signed Brown, Legge, Joyce, Oyeleke and Miller, the latter two who were coveted by other league clubs, along with Whitfield now. The simple fact is that a half decent manager would be getting a hell of a lot more from the players he would have at his disposal than Neil Aspin is showing.

2 years since we last came from behind to win.

I am getting sick of this continual garbage , as it stands this will be 6 defeats from last 7 games with 3 goals scored.

It may be that he appointed Aspin as his second choice because John Askey turned us down.

 

And he's doing a cracking job at Shrewsbury isn't he!

 

That's said he's had a very hard act to follow after they overachieved considerably last season.

 

Certain managers can make the step up from non-league to league but other perhaps ought to be left where they are! Sadly we seem to pick the latter!

Still be on a fair bit regardless of whether he’s played mainly in non league. Most league 2 sides were after manny. Was waiting for someone to ask who do we replace him with.. who cares a monkey could organise the sidebetter than aspin.

They probably couldn't care less. As a bloke and manager Aspin comes across as run-of-the-mill in every sense of the word. Although the players probably have respect for him, more so for the footballer he once was, I don't believe for a single moment that they are inspired or motivated by him.

It's not so much where you sign players from it's having the managerial ability to get the best out of them as you say. If you look at a lot of the personnel Hurst signed at Shrewsbury last season for example, many had non-league careers or pretty avg-poor lower league careers before going to Shrewsbury. Hurst turned them into a side who nearly got into the Championship.

So just like pretty much every other team in League Two, we signed a mixture of proven players and unproven players this summer. Who would believe it?!
