I'd hope that any player would actually look further than the current league position and see that we're actually an improving team who have the capacity to do very well. Up until recently, based on Aspin's form, we'd have been third.

Exactly. And if these players don't want to come to us now (i.e. could be said not to have the attitude for a scrap), would we really want them in the summer?

From the text commentary, it seems that we've been trying to make the most of wing play in this game, with Kempster and Dior, something that's been sadly lacking for some years at this Club. Would love to see it back. Will never forget the likes of Gups, Jinkin' John and Macca tearing teams to shreds w their runs down the line and pinpoint crossing.

Just a word about players from non-League. John Ritchie, a left back who played for us in the third division in the early 70’s went to Preston for £18,000 - a very decent fee in those days. He came to Vale from Whitley Bay. John Brodie played close to 200 games at right back for Vale in the 70s. He started at Whitley Bay. Chris Waddle was signed by Newcastle from Tow Law Town in the Northern League. The Blyth team who beat Stoke in the Cup played in the Northern League. It’s actually a very strong League.

I believe one of out scouting team is an ex Managr of Whitley Bay so he will know plenty about Kempster. Let’s see how it works out.

Jean. I completely agree. But if you are lucky (skill full) you have a 50% success rate. This might be a long term plan. Not short term,

We're in the mire at the moment. What we need is players to keep us in the league. Gnarled old pro's - the likes of Gunning - will do.

Stay in the league and re-group over the summer. That is all I ask.

People seem to forgetting a forward we plucked from Marske Town, who has been subject to bids in the region of 8 million and who's sale could finance the club for years.

There is bags of talent in the non leagues. Peterborough have made an entire business model out of it.

Left in the hands of Aspin, Rudge, and whoever scouts for us these days, this is a fine transfer policy to follow.
