One terrible example who barely played. I'm not unhappy with giving lads like this a chance I just don't think its the type of player we should be looking at in this window. We need experience and players who will know how to keep us in the football league. If we want to sign young unproven players then the Summer is the time to do it when they have time to bed in.

 

I'm just trying to make the point that league experience isn't the be all and end all, as I've stated on another thread. It's ability, attitude and decision making first and foremost for me.

so 2 players in how many years. I think in January you have to add to what you have got. Not take risks on players 5 divisions below.

We aren't safe yet. We cant be taking risks.

They've obviously been scouted and we must clearly rate them, I doubt they'll command huge wages and I highly doubt that we aren't looking at other established players as well. A mix of the two would be great.

It's not a case of either or though is it? We can look at non-league players and more experienced ones from the league. It's only the 9th of January...

They're being scouted by a mixture of Aspo/Nogan/Rudge too, who I've read are sometimes all going to look at players together. I'd say given who we now have looking at them, it's definitely less of a risk than any of the ones we 'scouted' in the summer.

 

If anyone can give updates on score etc, would be appreciated as at work.

Not surprised that Regis is only playing one half. After Satdee Aspo will be looking to shake things up and I guess Regis will be well in the frame. One or two older legs clearly need a rest!

No issue having a look for diamonds in the rough and assume that's as part of a longer term vision.

Our best years were when we were picking up players either from non-league whom nobody had ever heard of, discarded by higher league Clubs (Guppy et al), or for low transfer fees (Beckford springs to mind, paid for by the supporters club and Van De Laan), then selling these players on when they began to fulfill their potential. That is obviously the route that Aspo and JR are looking to exploit again by looking at the likes of Angus, Regis, Kempster etc. If only one of these 3 (presuming that we signed Kempster) 'makes it', the Club will be quids in.

I'd hope that any player would actually look further than the current league position and see that we're actually an improving team who have the capacity to do very well. Up until recently, based on Aspin's form, we'd have been third.
