Change of tone here

Has anyone else noticed? Yeah the results are going good, but with the banning of a few on here the atmosphere has got a lot better? More civil. Differences of opinion but all containing "you are entitled to your opinion...".

 

OVF has been a much more pleasant place, without being thought police patrolled, or an echo chamber, the last couple of weeks?

 

Credit to the admins. RobF deserves it for the work he obviously puts in providing this site.

As long as comments are not vitriolic, I see no problems with difference of opinion. If nothing else, it leads to healthy if sometimes heated debate, but that surely that is what these forums are all about. If everyone agreed with one another, how interesting would that be ? Maybe one or two are WUM’s, but the usual intelegente on these pages but them right. Whilst you have black and white, the world will never be a dull grey.

It has been an education watching opinions change over the last few weeks: at one time there was criticism of the clamour for Aspo or Ainsworth to be made our manager - "...what's this obsession with our ex-players?..."; and Gav Gunning - who was scoffed at and branded a madman, amongst other names! It has been an education watching a proper manager getting the best out of players we had been writing off as useless; and having the nous to spot what's going wrong / not working and know how to change things around. Yes - there has been a couple of blips... and fairly embarrassing ones...but we couldn't expect this kind of change and renewed optimism after a dozen or so games - so massive kudos to Aspin, and almost certainly Rudgie, and the rest of the backroom staff...and begrudgingly, to Smurf, too, who seems to be realising his earlier mistakes - let's hope he continues to rectify them!

Just a quick note from me. We always try and make OVF as welcoming as possible - our aim is to give fans somewhere to discuss Vale things. We don't comment publicly on who has been banned or why.

 

It doesn't always work - we are not perfect, we do make mistakes and we are all volunteers and we don't monitor the site 24 hours and read everything.

 

So, please do help us to help you. If you see something you don't like and appears to break the rules, please let us know. Instructions are at the bottom of the forum home page. We may have missed it unless you tell us.

 

Not everyone gets on but not liking someone doesn't necessarily mean they should/will be banned. If someone does get on your nerves use the IGNORE option to mute them.
