Matchday Thread: EFLT Port Vale v Crewe Alex

So not only are the fans that go to these games scabs, (someone eleses words), they are also luddites with the IQ of amoebas. No one can predict what damage this competeition may or may not do, so at the moment its a completely hypothetical situation as to what the future holds. Clearly the Premier League are looking at the models of other countries as to how they incorporate b teams, so its an issue thats not going to go away as they will be looking at other ways of trying it outside of this cup competition anyway. But slagging off fellow fans again for going to support and watch their team is just wrong.

You have some intelligent stuff to say, but equally some of your posts deserve the same apathy that you give to the the EFL Trophy in the hope that you go away because derailment is what happens in near enough every thread you take part in.

Once again they were some else’s words. No need for name calling and bringing that sort of thing into debates, which yet again I didn’t.

You accept youth teams into this and support it, one of our only two real chances of Wembley, and slowly and surely you open the door for them to enter the competition where we have put other chance.

It’s like we as clubs and fans are prostituting ourselves for the change down the back of a billionaires sofa. It’s horrible to see apathy and support of this competition.

I and thousands like me adore my lower league club and it kills us not to attend games but we can’t close our minds to the damage this is doing. It appears apathy has set in and we will be playing the equivalent of parks football in years to come.

That can’t be respected Geo, it would be a decimation of the club.

Thats your opinion rep, I dont know if its right or wrong but what I suspect is that if "they" want to they will no matter what fans think or do. Other people think differently and their decision to attend or not should be respected.

I respect yours and anyone elses decison and reasons for not going, but I don't respect being called a scab from another poster and then you referring to those that attended as luddites with the brains of an amoeba. Which you did when quoting another posters words.

When insults get thrown into anyones posts for whatever topic then they lose all credibility and respect from me and they ensure the underlying message of the post is undermined.

I can’t respect the intentional or unintentional damage of lower league football Geo, it’s our very life blood and has been for the vast amount of our history.

As I say none of those were my words and I don’t support any of them.

For the avoidance of doubt you nor anyone that attends and supports the death of our future has my respect or any form of credibility.

It will be interesting to see how you and others that attend this competition defend inadvertently killing our club in years to come if it continues.

Really??

The only luddites and people with the IQ of amoebas' date=' your words, are the ones merrily supporting this damaging farce whilst closing their eyes and sticking their fingers in their ears.[/quote']

Damage? The British game is ****** anyhow.

You seem to be on some sort of moral crusade.

Has anyone noticed how pants the U21 teams have been in this comp? Perhaps the top clubs will realise that giving their young lads three games in a comp in which they are getting stuffed contributes nowt to their development at all?? Perhaps they will realise that the idea of "B" teams in the league will simply see them stuffed on a weekly basis rather than in the first couple of months of the season?

I don't want these clubs on "our" competition but I don't see it as the end of the world because I don't think it is working in the way the prem clubs thought it would. Every time there is a change in the organisation of the game folk throw they arms up in horror and say it will bring doom to all. Changing the regional lower divisions would bring financial ruin. Automatic relegation to non-league would bring ruin. Abolition of the maximum wage would bring ruin. Letting home clubs keep their gate money would be disastrous. The Premier League would be a closed shop to lower division clubs, etc. etc. ad infinitum.

Let's see what actually happens as a consequence of this change and deal with it accordingly. Port Vale will never die just because REP and co think it will.

By the way, with regard to the draw for the next round, it takes place on Friday before the England game. We can't draw Stoke because of the way the draw is organised. We will play a second placed team from Groups E, F, G or H. So at the moment that's Shrewsbury, Mansfield, Doncaster plus anyone of the four in Group F where there is still one game to play and any of them could finish up second.

Many lower league fans enjoy their trips to Wembley with this competition, changes imposed by the Prem have changed its attraction. Vale fans have shown their disgust by their poor attendance against Newcastle as compared to Crewe, only about 25% and the lowest for the ground. What would the comparison be between FA Cup games for the same opponents? Ammunition for Norman, but financial leverage by the Prem is hard to resist, only a concerted effort by fans at all clubs has a chance of forcing change.
