Where do we go from here?

He's always splashed the cash on the budget' date=' he doesn't particularly need to splash the cash on a manager (although I think he should) he simply needs to get it right 4th time around. [/quote']

We got Micky Adams as a manager because we paid the going rate. Since then we haven't and look what's happened. The manager is the most important bloke at the club so you have to pay the going rate to get the best you can. The last two have been paid peanuts and look what's happened?

So he needs to reduce so we can spend money, makes no sense.

He needs to ask a sensible price for the club, not one that he has plucked from fairy land. Why should a new owner pay considerably more than the club is worth and in so doing, reduce what funds they have to invest in the football side.

We attract crap players as three crap managers have signed them.

Page was boring as **** but he had the right idea when it came to managing a squad.

Drop a few off the bottom and add a few to the top. That's how you improve a football team. Bruno and Brown were playing a lottery. The next manager in will have his work cut out to sign a whole new team next summer and start building properly the year after that.

The budget has been there, it's just been spread over 30 average to poor (and injury prone) players rather than 15 good players and 5 promising kids/loans.

Again I said I hope he does pay the going rate for a manager, adding that he doesn't need to as there are plenty of over paid crap ones. The most important thing is that it's the right man.

Right price in your opinion. It's a sellers market clearly as he doesn't need to sell.

Personally I don't want another new owner without any sports management experience, the last 3 haven't ultimately worked out to well in the long run.

Agree completely over the budgets, I was chatting to a pro football coach last week who said managers who don't trust their own judgment generally tend to go for quantity over quality so they have a number of options if their first choices don't work out, it's exactly what's happened here since Micky left.

Or he can finally appoint the right man and get us promoted again and back on the right track. It's ambitious and a long way off I know!

In your honest opinion, REP, will he do that or are you acting like a bloke embarking on his fourth marriage - demonstrating the triumph of hope over experience?

You can't argue his 3 appointments have been anything less than crap, ambitious young managers who probably sold a dream that he fell for, now he has Micky to advise him I'm more hopeful but that's clearly all it can be.

It's without doubt his biggest failing.

And that's his problem.

No leadership whatsoever.

I would go as far to say as he is the worst owner in English professional football.

Clueless doesn't even come close.

Totally agree. Some say him breaking the silence was being honest, I just thought his recent interview was completely embarrassing. Keep your mouth shut Norman, you have made us enough of a laughing stock as it is.

ST-

He has made some shockers but people's opinions are not based on rational facts the very example you can't even write a post without referring to him as scum and being abusive is all there for very one to see.

Smurf is 100 million miles from perfect however-

He didn't make this happen on purpose, he isn't on a one man crusade to end port vale. He's a muppet who thought he was too clever to get caught out, to get things wrong and is starting to smell the coffee after a catalogue of stupidity. He's not scum he's not a disgusting human being he's a plonker who is too proud to admit he was wrong. It's not a case of waking up, it's a case of dismissing everything he does out of hand and making any little issue a massive personal insult to yourself and every Vale fan.

He's taken a step back and appointed a CEO which fans have said isn't the case even though it clear from people who work at the club he had t been seen for months until very recently.

He's taken his time and given a manager that in a lot of people eyes didn't deserve time enough time to turn around a very poor run of form.

He's now fired a very poor manager and doesn't want to make the same mistake again and is now doing what everyone wanted which was to consult people in the game on who is the best possible replacement. He's taking his time on appointing a successor.

Yes he's been gobby on twitter, yes he's got on a coach and gobbed off at Exeter and then said he didn't. Yes he treated a couple of ex players badly. Personally I don't give a ****. That for me means diddly squat. He's just a ***** who is too proud to admit he got it wrong with a fellowship of moaning fans who turn every twitter post into a personal vendetta.

The best post I've read on Smurf was actually by that Stoke fan.

Vale fans have now wanted to chase out every owner for 25 years....is that the fans or every owner for 25 years that's the issue?

Never a truer word spoken.

Do you really believe that load of horse dung you have just written? Really do you? Smurf is a boil on the arse of football club owners, he is self opinionated, totally deluded and an arrogant dong.

I trust that I have made myself clear. I hope that you are looking forward to non league football under this idiot.

The club would have been in a much better state with Page and a supportive chairman. I don't want to go on about RP but this complete lie that he was a poor manager needs challenging.

I totally agree with you but IMHO it doesn't need challenging 'cause the assertion that Rob page was a poor manager is groundless and factless and the Vale fans who cast that assertion just make a sweeping statement with no evidence or reasoning to back it up.

It was only 20 months ago that Vale were one decent striker away from making a play-off push in Lge 1, what I would give for that right now. It was only 2 seasons ago that Rob Page guided this club to safety in Lge 1 after a disastrous start and MA's departure.

Vale's demise is traced back to Smurf's chess playing that led to Rob Page's departure, it's turned out to be well and truly "Fools mate". All water under the bridge now though.

Yeah, I agree with you too! Smurthwaite's (and certain people on here) constant rubbishing of Page is just agenda ridden baloney. It was a far bigger error to drive the guy out of the club than it was to employ him but it pays for certain people to just continually chirrup that Norman has made 3 poor appointments as that focuses attention on that single issue rather than the fact that the bloke is an utter chump. Page took us in to the final 4 or 5 games of his final season still with a chance of the play-offs, yet witless ********* still feel they can dismiss him as 'crap', yet the goon who continues to do so much damage to the club just gets off with comments about how his failing is appointing poor managers. As I said, agenda ridden baloney.
