Signings?

Ill judge this window at the end of it. It is worrying that we haven't made the progress we want to by now but we as fans need to show patience. A sucessful window for me is top 7 by Christmas. Anything less is a failure IMO.

 

To be fair, with us having to build almost the entire starting 11 & rest of squad from scratch, I'd say stability & mid-table would be success for me. That would be nice though!

Will you and many others get a grip! The year we got promoted we announced our first signing on 1 July! So go on holiday or just do anything and enjoy the summer and then we will see what August brings!

Yes but we didn't need 15 to 16 players then.

Brown can't even get Bikey and Eagles to sign so doesn't seem capable of persuading people to commit to Port Vale. Even Crewe on their limited budget are making signings.

If we announced a signing tomorrow I can guarantee people would be all over it saying how awful the signing is so to be fair to the club it just can't win no matter what it does in pre-season

Surely our goal as a football club is to be challenging for promotion next season? I'm not saying we have to go up but to be in and arround the playoffs all season has got to be our ambition. Not a deal breaker but ambition none the less.

Agreed, & with the budget I've heard in a few places, that should be the goal, but just trying to be realistic in that seeing as we're bringing in almost a full team, chances are they may take time to gel.

 

A personal goal will be to see us win away, considering we won 0 out of the 15 I saw last saeason!

Just checking that it is the 2nd June, and not the 2nd August? I'll start panicking then if we haven't signed anyone. The last match of the domestic season was on Monday.

 

1) We have absolutely no idea whether we have been interested in any of the players signed (Other than maybe Mirfin).

2) We're going to miss out on some players we're interested in. Like it or not, it's a fact.

3) We'll sign some good players, some averages ones and some signings won't work out. That's football. Minimise your mistakes and you've got a great chance.

4) The players don't return for another few weeks. 3 weeks is a long time in pre-season. I'm sure we'll make a few signings between now and then. Players that want to actually play for the club and aren't just coming because we made the best offer.

 

Once you take into account those things, your summer should be a lot smoother and relaxed.

No more than fans of any other football club. Why would a Vale fan moan if the club signed a player who would improve the squad and almost any professional footballer will improve the squad we currently have.

Expecting things to start happening around next week maybe. Not too fussed at the moment, shouldn't be any rush to build a side. The amount of worry & panic flying around is mental, Facebook is even worse! Every other post in the groups on there is how we've 'missed out' on players we haven't even been linked with, regardless of how good or bad they are. It's every time somebody gets signed!

 

I even said a few days ago, I wonder how upset people would have been had Grimsby signed Kelly from someone else given the few screamers he's scored, would we have 'missed out' then?

many a true word spoken in jest but don't particularly mind if they are all out of the seconds and rejects bin as long as they form a decent competitive squad and give us something to shout about.
