If one of the players we have tabled an offer for is Courtney Richards (as has been previously suggested on here) the Torquay fans dont seem to be too cut up that hes leaving.

Does it really matter who is to blame? We are and that's the bottom line. The club is in a huge huge mess and the attitude of our staff, CEO and whatever Fradley is moonlighting as, is going to push us to the brink of non league football. Someone MUST pay for last season, and it's not going to be the fans again.

Nonsense. Money talks, Leeds were a bigger Mess than us last season, wasn't their owner in prison half the time ?? Hasn't he sacked about 6 managers in two seasons? They still attract quality because they pay the money. If he doesn't come it's because he was too greedy and we haven't got money to waste.

Though I am always hoping for the best, and trying to be optimistic, I do feel there is a real risk of our club not being in the league in 3 or 4 years time. The reasons for this are not just the owner but

 

- Big clubs are now admitting they want small clubs to be 'put to sleep' - that is a direct quote from Manchester Uniteds MD

 

- Support is getting older, and not being replaced by kids fast enough. Not just at Vale, but all small clubs have to compete with any big clubs nearby, but the Prmiership big boys and even the Barcelona and Bayern Munich and Real Madrid - you see kids wearing the shirts of these teams now.

 

- The owner is like Trump - unpredictable, and irrational, and if things go wrong next season for any reason and he pulls the plug then we can't do much.

It's a case of having a loaded gun at the clubs' head, and it is being held by someone who has proven before that he is not a calm character, and can be described as erratic - some will say far worse.

 

- Even if nothing else happens, it is a slow process to repair the damage already done and this may be partly responsible for players not exactly rushing to sign for Vale, they know how unstable things have been and it will take some time to convince some people otherwise.

 

They may also have seen how a tiny, absolutely tiny, portion of the fan base turns upon and scapegoats players, managers and in fact anyone except the owner.

It isn't the number of people doing this that matters, but the fact that the posts were relentless last season, and the volume of posts from one or two people, and it still goes on. This damages Vale, and is especially making life difficult for the manager.
