He's bloody awful in my opinion! If there's not much better, and younger, than him available on a free come the end of may then football really is in a shocking state!

He really is. Below par may well be the understatement of the century.

Is that really fair to the players that he would like to release. I bet they will be spitting feathers if they get told just prior to the start of the season. If you are released you need to know early so you can try and get fixed up with another club.

Im in no rush but its a chance to minimize the damage if its left until after the close of the early bird offer... how fizzed off would people feel it the list was released the day after the offer closes to find all the cack has been retained?

I think the thing is Howjy04 it is best to do your business early. We will be playing catch up, look at the fat one at Mansfield he has already signed two proven League one players in the last 24 hours.

By the time we get cracking we will be left with the dregs.

I understand that darren but we may be keeping our cards close to our chest in regards signing players we are potentially negotiating with.I suppose a decent signing or two would do everyone a bit of good and lift the cloud over the club.

I think they probably know Owd.

We may be after players involved in the playoffs,players who we are awaiting a decision from.We just haven't announced it yet.To announce only departures wouldn't look very positive.

Someone mentioned Yatesy earlier in this thread, I can't see him staying as a player given his age and the injury he's had. I like Yates and see him as a Vale fan who's given us good service but I'm afraid his days as a Vale player are over.

I'm fairly sure the retained list has to be done within a certain time after the final game of the season. Personally I don't think many of the current squad are worth retaining and I believe there are enough decent players being released by other clubs to satisfy our needs. Question is will they want to come and will we pay them the going rate.
