Hugill made 20 league appearances before turning down a contract offer to go to Preston. The tribunal gave us £25,000 and a sell-on clause. He could go for around £2 million this summer, which if the sell-on clause was 10% would see us net £200,000.

 

Streete has made 52 league appearances and has a better pedigree than Hugill did at his age. I am guessing either Norman doesn't want to risk £130,000 on getting half that figure in the tribunal (see as he won't be here to cash in on any future sell on fee) or Brown doesn't want to have a significant percentage of his budget tied up on a player who will probably leave in August.

Here we go again, the most predictable thing in the whole Vale mess was that you would scapegoat new people, whoever they are.

Who chose them by the way ? The real mess is completely and utterly caused by your chum Smurf, and almost everyone else seems to realise that - the idea of blaming it all on people who have only been running things for 4 days could only come from a post that is trying to manipulate and is sheer unadultered propaganda.

If your Smurf mate had given Brown a decent budget, he could have risked giving Streete a new £130k+ offer - as it is the reduced amount from the lovable ex-chairman will have to be used on 2 or 3 players. You know very well the money for the budget has come from Smurf and this is HIS fault, and only his, so grow up and stop defending the indefensible.

We must be missing something here. I know this football club is daft, but it can't be that daft.

 

There must be more to it than that.

 

it will be interesting to see how quick he gets snapped up as if a deal has already been agreed perhaps a minimal payment could have been agreed for cash up front behind close doors saving them money and us the risk of offering the same contract-only thing could be otherwise any business men interested in making money wouldnt be so naive ....

 

Would also be interesting to see if we still have a share of hughill sell on clause as if norman is selling he may have done a deal the same way as bell did with ant gardner with spurs (appearances related i think)rather than waiting until it actually happens --just a thought

You reap what you sow.

You've gobbed off more in one post about these two than you have Smurthwaite in the last 4 years.

Streete was the clubs highest paid player,130k per year was rumoured, the Vale would have to match that or he goes for a free.

 

The gamble was if no one came in for him we would have a good 2nd division player on 130k,I guess that would fund two players, money is tight very tight so we must live within our means.

 

That's the reality he isn't worth a million at the moment and would be over 24 if we offered a two year contract. He's an excellent athlete but his positional play is nowhere near as good as Smith. We might get 100000 for him on the open market, less at a tribunal. God knows what our budget is but it's going to be less than 2 million. My guess would be 1.5 million. Is Streete worth 10% of the playing budget is the question.

The decision (agreement) that he would leave was obviously made a while back when no contract offer was made. I guess our wonderful owner wasn't prepared to offer him what he's on this season just in case he accepted it! If the offer had been made and Remi turned it down we would have received a fee but Smurf chose not to go down this road which seems rather strange in my opinion
