That's the spirit. Let's close it down and lock the gates.
Realism, half the Championship have foreign owners, Bradford has the population to easily support a Championship club and significant current attendances, thus will attract foreign interest with the financial rewards in the Championship, they can also point to their recent spell in the Prem. The financial potential at a mid L1 club is different, even if we hang onto our status this season. All we need is an exceptional selling point.

What we need, now, and over the next few years is bums on seats. The threat we face from Stoke is huge. In the past, football wasn't a luxury purchase, clubs could rely on loyalty with very little forward thinking. We can't do that anymore. Can anyone honestly say, hand on heart that Smurf has done all he possibly can to retain support, never mind boost attendances? The Bradford model is exactly that, a model. We don't have to rely on getting the same numbers as them. As others have said, when they first started this scheme 9 years ago their targets were much lower. We abandoned it too soon as our successive leaders have lacked the intelligence to see the long term threat to the club. Other clubs are starting to wake up and follow suit. Unfortunately Smurf won't replicate the Bradford model as his vision is focused on short term return for himself, which has backfired. His concerns aren't focused on the club, so we'll continue to see ST sales decrease year on year.

They sold well over 10000 season tickets in their first year of the scheme we scraped to a much lower target by the narrowest of margins. Our support base is nowhere near Bradford.

Potteries negativity and pessimism at its finest. Think small, know your place, don't try anything different, look downwards.

Ok I'll repeat myself. We don't have to match the same numbers that Bradford get. We need to match the current income we get from season tickets, with a long term plan to retain them and grow the numbers over time. Bradfords target now is 20,000, do you think in 2008 their fans ever imagined they'd be able to sell that many outside of the prem or championship. We need to copy the model, not match their numbers. Why is that so hard for people to grasp.

Narrowest of margins, wasn't it 6,500 we sold? cant quite remember and tbh even if it was 5,500 imo it was worth continuing for a club of our size
