We need players first and foremost. No point in rearranging the deckchairs on the deck of the Titanic, we need some new deckchairs. Having a new deck hand to decide on a new arrangement is less important.

 

I disagree. Yes we do need a few new players particularly in the attacking department but i think the problems are bigger than that. There seems to be a malaise over the whole of the club, quite possibly brought on by the negativity of Bruno Ribeiro. That was evident yesterday on the pitch and has been evident in the stands for months with every decreasing attendances. The players clearly need a kick up the arse and i feel that can only be achieved by a new manager to provide new impetus and a fresh face in the dressing room. To continue your Titanic analogy, the team looks like a rudderless ship at the moment.

Problem with Smurf is he only been a fan for a few years, had no idea who Neal Aspin actually was last time his name come up.

 

Good call all the same & he would be welcomed by the majority of Vale fans.

 

I believe smurf has looked at a couple of non league managers but they weren't Aspin

I'm afraid there are now plenty of failed managers out there now who would like the manager's job at Vale Park. I'm sure we pay the going rate and we're still an attractive pull for anyone looking for work.

 

I certainly would not employ anyone who has been round the block and failed a few times.

 

My choice would be Adkins and although sacked i wouldn't call him failed as his win rates are even with sheff utd,he just didn't achieve the promotion they wanted there

There is plenty of good candidates like Adkins, Jackett, Cotterill, Billy Davies who have decent track records and would be a better bet for us now, the problem is would they come and work here and would Smurf try and get them/pay what they want, it's also obvious that you should avoid persistent failed managers like Saunders,Dickov etc or unproven foreigners with no knowledge of lg1 alternatively go for an in work manager with a good track record of overachieving on low budgets in lg1 1/2/conference like Keith Hill, Ainsworth, Aspo etc

 

I would try and tempt either Hill or Ainsworth with a decent wage and good budget or go for Adkins,i would be happy with any of those

Really?? so it's more important to get players in who a new manager wont of chosen? or do you get the manager now and let him get his players in during January?

Correct and that is why if players come in this week then i think Brown will manage until the end of the season
