Please give the job to Neil Aspin. Vale through and through, decent record as manager, won't take any **** from players who don't give a **** about our club. Appointing Aspin would go some way to getting lost fans back through the gate and would be an appointment which 99% of Valiants would be happy with. Then, let him get on with managing the team without putting him under unnecessary pressure of top 6 by X date or gone. Let him build a team and the rest will fall into place.

 

Don't give it to Mixu PennyLane or whatever his name is, another chancer with less chance than Bruno had.

I loved Aspin - club legend - but imho we need a 'proven' league manager who has a track record of over achieving on a limited budget.

Wasn't he interviewed/on the short list last summer?

 

Personally I would not go there as I think he's too similar to Bruno and another shot in the dark whose been round the block a bit with little success but in some ways I don't think it's hard to see where our problems lie and the kind of players we need to improve the team.

No doubt plenty of managers apply, even have interviews, but accepting the job is a different matter.

I'm afraid there are now plenty of failed managers out there now who would like the manager's job at Vale Park. I'm sure we pay the going rate and we're still an attractive pull for anyone looking for work.

Football Management is a very demanding job, only a few succeed, maintaining the status quo is often failure in some peoples eyes and not good enough.

There is plenty of good candidates like Adkins, Jackett, Cotterill, Billy Davies who have decent track records and would be a better bet for us now, the problem is would they come and work here and would Smurf try and get them/pay what they want, it's also obvious that you should avoid persistent failed managers like Saunders,Dickov etc or unproven foreigners with no knowledge of lg1 alternatively go for an in work manager with a good track record of overachieving on low budgets in lg1 1/2/conference like Keith Hill, Ainsworth, Aspo etc

We need players first and foremost. No point in rearranging the deckchairs on the deck of the Titanic, we need some new deckchairs. Having a new deck hand to decide on a new arrangement is less important.

Wouldn't even be being suggested if he wasn't a legend as a player. Why aren't we clambering for the Lincoln or Stourbridge managers to be out next man?

I remember and loved Aspo playing at Vale, but why do people think he is the answer. Would not want to see his legend status knocked by management role going bad. We need a manager who brings in methods used at other clubs and merge them with what works well at Vale. Someone who has experience, but has not failed regularly at club's in the English leagues. Smurf the footy at foreign clubs are different and not so physical.

 

Please appoint a manager with English league experience or tell Brown you have the job till the end of the season. We will then look at what you have done. Use the money saved to buy experienced strikers and midfielders. This needs to be done sooner rather than later as players are being signed up and won't come here due to the uncertainty.
