hi all. just would like to comment on the current situation surrounding the club at the moment. i would like to say that we should be looking for an experienced manager to get us out of this muck mess. the squad needs thinning and more quality bringing in instead of 20000 players who wouldnt get a game at stafford rangers. also i think brown needs another year or 2 as assistant before getting to grips with actual management. thoughts?

We'll know if Brown is the answer come April/May. If we're back in league two with Brown still at the helm then Smurf will have dropped the biggest bollock of all those he's dropped to date.

If we stay up with the crap squad we have, Brown will have worked wonders.

Ideally reading between the lines i think smurf would like Brown to learn for another couple of seasons then become our manager, the problem is smurf WONT pay the going rate for a JFH or Adkins(who i would like),we would end up with a manager who is doing ok in the conference, its a known fact he is a big fan of cox at Barrow.

If it was to be Cox or another non league manager then i would sooner stick with Brown who seems to be surrounding himself with decent people in the game Kelly and Wrack.....if we bring players in under Brown then he will be the manager imo

I'm not sure how much money is available to fix what's wrong at the club but there are lots of problems and only a finite amount of money. Norman is going to have to pick his battles very carefully.

A decent experienced manager won't come cheap and that will take money out of the pot for new signings. It's not as though a good manager will get the best out of these players - too many of them are poor players who need replacing.

So it's a question of priorities. I personally think Brown could turn out to be a decent manager but he won't turn this bunch into good players overnight. If at all.

Time is of the essence, a new manager if not in the pipeline would have to agree terms, take over the existing players, make changes, recruit his own replacements or accept current plans within the transfer window. He will have had more experience but will this be more useful than Brown`s attributes in this time scale. He knows the players, what changes are required based on his playing and coaching experience, augmented by Kelly and Wracks wider knowledge. I do not think Smurf has much choice unless he wishes to spend a £1M or so, whether that could be funded by outgoings. Changes don't always work out, ask Brum fans.

And I agree - that Browny deserves a chance. Personally I can't see why he wouldn't have every chance of making a good go of it, he seems to be well thought of, he doesn't suffer fools gladly, he knows the game and has a lot of top level experience, he must have great contacts in the game and I'm sure lots of other attributes as well. Let's see how he gets on for a few games he hasn't had chance to do anything different yet.

For me, Norman has to make a decision this week. Whoever the manager will be needs to have the January window to improve the squad. If its Brown's until the end of the season then let him get on with recruitment, otherwise a new man needs to be ASAP in order to get most of the window.

It seems only fair to let the new guy have his Christmas and New Year now doesn't it?
