It is a big step up, I agree. However, Omar Bogle (that much mentioned player!) stepped up from the Conference North to the Conf. Prem, and then to Div 2 with Grimsby and he is now talked about in the £750,000- £1m bracket - haven't Rotherham had a huge bid turned down already? Obviously we can't afford to compete with that - we must make every effort to get in before these non-leaguers make the headlines. Perhaps we are already too late for either of the Danny Rowes.

Off-topic, but did you ref them at home? I subscribe to Groundtastic, and the last one had AFC Fylde on the cover , and a nice article.

I was thinking that it would be a lovely ground to visit, not to mention officiate a match there, and the pitch looked immaculate in the photos.

Superb, and they are a very welcoming club. I would very much recommend a trip there. The pitch was indeed superb.

Is this lad a winger as mentioned on other articles? How many wingers do we want in the squad? Kelly, Thomas, Eagles Mbamba, Shalaj. I really hope if we do sign another winger we will see Kelly Mbamba and Shalaj leave as must be viewed as not good enough by Browny?

From what we've seen so far I think those three will go, unless Brown thinks there is some latent potential in one of them.

Eagles I think can play in a number of positions and isn't an out and out winger.

Thomas is mainly left footed and not as quick as he once was.

We need a fast right sided player and maybe this lad could fit the bill.

 

Changing the squad around, releasing and signing new players isn't easy half way through a season and/or a few months into contracts but you would hope that when the season finishes one or two might voluntarily wish to be released if their futures aren't here.

From what I've seen of Mbamba and Shalaj I don't think they are good enough and I can see us trying to ship these 2 out. Equally Kelly needs to improve too.

They are aiming for league status, so unlikely to be desperate to sell players, unlike Macc.

I've mentioned before that I'd be in favour of us employing John Askey as manager .This season he's lost Whitehead to Wigan ,Dennis to Chesterfield Jalal to Wrexham , Mackreath to Bury ,Lewis to Cambridge and he's still got Macc into the playoff positions .Plus he's a die hard Vale fan who knows the lower leagues well.

 

Not sure about 'die hard Vale fan'. Certainly his dad Colin is a Stoke supporter and always has been.
